Job Description

Our store is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the Pharmacists with prescription management and communicating with physicians’ offices about patient medications. The successful candidate for this role will communicate with patients over the phone and in-store to address customer service issues and field questions about medications. Additionally, we are seeking an individual who has a dynamic personality and wellness to market compounding pharmacy as well.

  • Enter and maintain prescription data using our computer system
  • Disburse completed and confirmed prescriptions to patients
  • Greet customers and receive written prescription or refill requests
  • Establish and maintain patient profiles
  • Type prescribed medications and affix labels
  • Fill bottles with correct medication
  • Double check prescriptions are filled correctly
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs
  • Clean and maintain equipment or work areas according to prescribed methods
  • Manage inventory (receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, & notify the pharmacist with stock needs and shortages)
  • Assist customers by answering telephones, locating OTC items, answering questions, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
  • Assist with packing medications to be shipped by UPS or courier
  • Perform other tasks assigned

Knowledge & Skills

Experiences & Knowledge

  • 1 year in Healthcare required
  • 1 year in Customer Service required
  • Pharmacy Technician license in Virginia and Nationally required preferred
  • High school or equivalent required
  • 2 or more years of pharmacy experience preferred
  • Fertility experience a plus
  • Sterile and/or non-sterile compounding a plus
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Empathetic and warm-natured to hand sensitive circumstances
  • Keep anonymity of donor patients
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology and processing techniques
  • Knowledge of regulations governing pharmacy practice
  • Ability to monitor consistency and effectiveness of patient/client communication
  • Ability to be on feet throughout the day
