Besse Forest Products Group, headquartered in Gladstone, MI, is one of the leading producers of hardwood lumber, veneer, and plywood in North America operating four sawmills, one lumber concentration yard, three veneer mills, one plywood plant, and employs over 350 people.
We are currently seeking an Office Manager for our mill located in Baraga, Michigan.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sawmill Office Manager to join our team. The Sawmill Office Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the administrative and financial functions of our sawmill operations. This includes handling payroll, managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining records, and coordinating with various departments within the organization. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and a solid understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the sawmill office, ensuring efficient and smooth workflow
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment of bills and accurate invoicing to customers
- Coordinate with various departments, such as production, sales, and HR, to ensure seamless communication and efficient operations
- Implement and maintain office policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulations
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve office operations and financial management
- Handle any other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience as an office manager or in a similar administrative role
- Strong knowledge of financial management and accounting principles
- Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong leadership abilities and the aptitude to motivate and coach a team
- Knowledge of sawmill operations and the forestry industry is a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a professional manner
