POSITION SUMMARY: The Public Relations & Communication Specialist serves as the liaison and brand representative between external/internal parties and the Rockingham Insurance marketing team. The position is responsible for communication, event planning, promotional programs, management of the agency storefront and co-op programs, as well as the company’s corporate donation program for the purpose of elevating Rockingham Insurance brand awareness in the marketplace and increasing company revenue objectives.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, manage, and deliver agent and corporate communications that meet brand guidelines and regulatory standards
  • Liaison to Underwriting, Claims, Sales, and other departments to review product, training, and other communications as needed by the department, including brand and marketing compliance.
  • Develop and implement standard compliance and privacy statements for inclusion in all Rockingham Insurance communications and websites in collaboration with legal, product, and compliance stakeholders
  • Writing and editing communication materials related to press or insurance initiatives for distribution to agents and customers
  • Develop and deliver the Rockingham Insurance Annual Report
  • Manage corporate charitable donation program
  • Coordinate corporate representation of affiliate memberships in industry organizations
  • Oversee the company co-op advertising program; includes creative support, managing approval processes and expense tracking to include monthly reporting for agents
  • Plan and execute community engagement programs; Fire Safety Art contests in elementary/middle school, school book vending machine programs, and research future additional programs
  • Manage the marketing store front to include vendor business relationships

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Represent Marketing on ad hoc project committees as requested
  • Propose new community outreach programs, as well as sales and agency support to meet business objectives
  • Assist with developing and executing strategic communication initiatives.
  • Work with agents on meeting logistics including day and overnight travel when necessary
  • Improve processes, research additional tools to increase productivity, and implement revised methods of providing marketing support
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Exhibits strong and effective verbal and written communication skills that are professional and diplomatic including ability to competently spell, write, compose, and proofread copy; deals effectively with sensitive or private information.
  • Ability to manage outside relationships and work independently, particularly public relations and advertising agencies, as well as business vendors.
  • Develops a thorough knowledge of marketing to the insurance industry including knowledge of lines of business, workflows, customer insurance buying behavior, and agency selling habits.
  • Capable of promptly identifying issues, analyzing facts, and making decisive and appropriate decisions to resolve matters within areas of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in business or marketing preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum three years relevant experience with marketing, communications, or relevant industry experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrates personal integrity, inspires trust, and sets a positive example through a strong work ethic, commitment, and enthusiasm.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Flexibility in office location (can be remote or hybrid) with work schedule that meets the needs of the organization and the individual.
  • Position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally weekend, evening, or overnight work
