Job Title: Environmental Services Technician 

 

Supervisor: Facilities Director & Environmental Services Team Leader

 

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt 

 

Qualifications: High School diploma; or equivalent. Prefer, 1-2 years of business cleaning experience.

 

Positional Summary: 

Sometimes referred to as housekeeping or janitorial services, environmental services is a term used exclusively in healthcare to describe the process highly trained support service staff conduct to clean and disinfect medical equipment, patient rooms and other common areas within healthcare facilities. Environmental services prevent infections from spreading and help reduce hospital acquired infections (HAIs) by completing routine and terminal cleaning, project cleaning, and floor maintenance and finishing. EVS technicians are highly trained non-clinical healthcare staff that ensure a safe environment for everyone within a healthcare facility.

Must be able to organize and complete assigned work schedule. Will perform the following duties.


Job Descriptions/Essential Functions 

 

  • Customer service-oriented attitude and behavior with a pleasant, poised demeanor.
  • Embraces and participates in a teamwork-oriented environment.
  • Organize workload during the shift to facilitate the timely and efficient operation of the hospital.  
  • Maintains equipment, kept clean and in good working order. 
  • Follows safe work practices and standard precautions with required PPE.
  • Cleans and disinfects all hospital surfaces and performs laundry duties.  
  • Attend to various random needs of the hospital, its staff, and guests. 
  • Demonstrate attention to detail to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all occupants. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cleaning chemicals and the appropriate use and proper dilution methods. 
  • Follows all Harrison County Community Hospital District and departmental policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
