  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The Total Joint Replacement /Bariatric Programs Coordinator coordinates all systems related to total hip and total knee replacement and bariatric care delivery. The coordinator develops joint replacement and bariatric clinical services and integrates research into the clinical setting. Monitors quality of care issues, cost of care, care management for total joint replacement and bariatric patients including patient education. Acts as a clinical liaison between physicians, clinical staff, and administrative staff. Collaborates with nursing education by providing for staff development as an educator, consultant, process change agent, leader, and researcher. Communicates and collaborates with the Nurse Manager when staff coaching and/or mentoring is required. Works in coordination with each program’s physician leadership, applicable nursing leadership, and personnel associated with the care of total joint and bariatric patients to ensure work is accomplished effectively and patients are cared for appropriately. Coordinates and leads all survey activities with the respective certification/accreditation organizations, as appropriate, such as Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. Champions the Total Joint Advanced Protocol Program and develops improvements are required.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS
    • Education and/or experience: Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Tennessee Competent in BLS and / or other specialized life support requirements designated by work area or completion upon hire. Clinical expertise in orthopedics. Three or more years clinical healthcare experience required in an acute care facility. Multiple service experience desirable. National Certification in area of clinical expertise preferred.

      Knowledge: Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, license practical nurse and nursing assistants. Knowledge of and appropriate application of nursing process. Knowledge of infection control procedures, safety precautions, techniques involved in administering routine medications and / or treatments to patients. Knowledge in current job-related skills, organizational accreditation requirements and industry changes. Intermediate computer knowledge.

      Skills: Excellent customer service, active listening, intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to communicate clearly in all interactions.

      Abilites: Ability to demonstrate emotional maturity by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively. Ability to conduct needs assessment using a variety of strategic tools. Ability to incorporate principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs. Ability to develop and coordinate education plans to address patient population specific nursing care. Ability to use computer and learn new software programs. Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools. Ability to think critically and problem solve while remaining focused and organized in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to work flexible hours and days to meet facility needs.
