Job Summary:

To perform various duties relative to the needs of the plant with regards to collection, consolidation, and disposal of non-hazardous waste material. To perform the function in accordance with the following duties.

As a Conservation Tech your responsibilities will be:

  • Communicates with management, supervision, and other workers by verbal, written and electronic means.
  • Works from equipment specifications and manuals, written and verbal instructions. May be required to perform a variety of other tasks within the job family group when not performing above duties.
  • Collects waste from production areas to be placed in compactor or roll-off.
  • Collects large wooden pallets or crates via forklift and cut into pieces to properly fit in roll-off.
  • Optimizes space and cost of waste vendor contracts by filling roll-offs in an efficient manner.
  • Collects and breaks down cardboard to be placed in the baler.
  • Collects non-hazardous machine waste such as composite and metal trip tubs to bring to conservation for proper disposal.
  • Maintains cleanliness throughout plant and outdoors by picking up and disposing of non-hazardous items of unknown origin.
  • Separate waste and send to proper disposal facility.
  • Schedule and manage waste pickups as needed by understanding when each roll-off is approaching capacity.

Job Requirements

• Requires a HS diploma/GED equivalent.

• Must be 18 years of age or order.

Equipment requirements

• Must be able to operate Forklifts and Mobile Carts. Drive equipment to work site and secures in place. Checks for obstruction, both inside and outside such as underground electrical cables, water pipes, overhead wires, adjacent equipment, and walls.

• Must be able to operate baler and compactor safely by following written instructions and training.

• Employees must be able to pass an annual color vision test due to equipment operation and waste materials that need to be separated properly.

Environmental requirements

  • Must be aware of basic NPDES No Exposure Certification requirements.
  • Responsible for managing and storing waste in compliance with NPDES No Exposure Certification requirements (i.e. no temporary exposed metal materials outdoors).
  • Responsible for ensuring recycling targets are met by managing the waste streams involved.
