THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville is seeking someone highly motivated with experience in manufacturing, production, processing of products, and who also enjoys teaching, to join our team as a Corrections General Factory Supervisor within our Commissary Distribution Center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will oversee staff and inmates performing manufacturing, production, and processing of products and services within the institution's Correctional Industries (CI) Laundry Operations. You will supervise Corrections General Industries Factory Instructors and other factory staff; oversee instruction and on-the-job training provided to inmates in production or plant work; review and approve requisitions for supplies and equipment; prepare and maintain work records and personnel reports; ensure that staff and inmates comply with established industry sanitation and safety standards; maintain machinery and tools; and enforce security and custody regulations in all work areas.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $54,413.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson (commonwealth title); or
  • Four years of experience in the production of goods or services, which includes one year of lead work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of lead work experience in the production of goods or services.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
