Responsibilities

As a member of the Asset Management & Lease Accounting team, the Experienced Asset/Lease Accountant will be responsible for accurate and timely accounting and monitoring of company’s fixed assets as well as providing in-depth analytics related to fixed assets. In addition, the Experienced Accountant will be responsible for analysis of real estate & equipment leases for entry into the accounting subledger and various reconciliation and expense analysis journals related to leases.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform various lease & asset management accounting functions within prescribed time schedules and guidelines
  • Maintain subledger for fixed and intangible assets and leases, including additions, adjustments, & disposals
  • Prepare and compile monthly Sub-Ledger support documentation for audit support
  • Review and process capital expenditure requisitions requests
  • Review lease agreements, assess appropriate accounting classification (capital vs. operating), and prepare appropriate supporting documentation
  • Prepare and maintain assigned balance sheet account reconciliations, research outstanding issues and propose corrections
  • Run & analyze monthly depreciation expense reports and explain material month-to-month changes in expense
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures for fixed and intangible Assets and leases, including various journal entries
  • Assist in technical accounting and reporting research activities, such as capital vs. expense decisions
  • Understand and apply relevant lease accounting guidance to agreements and transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of center financial statements
  • Assist in process improvements and automations to improve work efficiency
  • Ad-hoc reporting and responses to inquiries based on requests from tax, external and internal auditors, financial operations, and various other SCA lanes
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with fellow teammates and various stakeholders
  • Prepare timely and accurate work product, including insightful financial statement analysis

Qualifications

Total education, vocational training and experience:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required
  • 2+ year experience in corporate or public accounting
  • Experience in lease accounting and/or asset management preferred but not required
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and statistical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to interact with all levels of management

Additionally, candidate should possess the ability to work in a changing, fast paced environment while displaying SCA’s values. Candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently, with acute attention to details and deadlines. Candidate should have a can-do, will-do attitude, with the ability to influence others towards positive results and actions. Candidate must demonstrate teamwork and partnership across multiple different lanes and have the ability to interact professionally with Company teammates.
