Description:

LifeMed Alaska currently has full time positions available for EMT III's and Paramedics in our Anchorage-based Ground division. This position will work a Kelly schedule, including three 24-hour shifts with 24-hours off in between, followed by four days off in a rotation.


LifeMed Alaska is currently offering a $2500 sign-on bonus for a 1 year commitment with an additional $3500 in retention bonuses available.


The candidate's selected for these positions shall exemplify and promote LifeMed's high standards. Responsibilities include:


Under direct supervision of the shift supervisor responsible for assisting in planning, providing, evaluating and documenting direct patient care including those patients with complex and involved care needs in the Pre-hospital setting. Maintains a safe, therapeutic and organized environment. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and provide the appropriate care based upon the age and condition of the patient. All duties and patient care provided will be performed in accordance with LifeMed Alaska policies and procedures and the medical operations manual (MOM) approved by the medical director or received from on-line medical control.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

JOB DUTIES

1. Functions in uncommon situations; has a basic understanding of stress response and methods to ensure personal well-being; understands body substance isolation; understands basic medical-legal principles; functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional and local regulatory agencies.

2. Under the sponsorship of the Medical Director, diagnose and treat medical emergencies in the pre-hospital environment and safely transport patients to the appropriate medical facility.

3. Safely and appropriately operate emergency vehicles and patient transport units in accordance with all applicable laws and organizational regulations.

4. Safely and appropriately lift, carry, and transport patients utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques, always keeping patient safety and comfort as top priorities.

5. Ensure that the assigned ambulance is always clean and neat, appropriately stocked per company standards and that all equipment is clean and in proper mechanical condition by checking items required by fleet management.

6. Maintains familiarity with specialized equipment used by the service.

7. Clearly and completely document all patient care using approved format.

8. Maintain a clean, orderly environment in crew quarters.

9. Attends continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employers, medical control, licensing or certifying agencies.

10. Must be able to operate a company vehicle according to state law and company policy.

11. Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

12. Complete other duties as assigned


QA/EDUCATION DUTIES:

1. Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities. Continually seeks ways to enhance company performance, safety, efficiencies and effectiveness.

2. Active in development of quality improvement standards related to all program activities. Effectively communicates problem resolution and offers ideas and support for quality service delivery. Participates in patient follow up for QA/I purposes and customer satisfaction.

3. Maintains all required certification and training education. Assumes responsibility for own attendance at all scheduled training sessions to maintain, improve or upgrade advanced practice and operational skills.

4. Actively seeks opportunities for professional development.


LIFEMED ALASKA CODE OF ETHICS:

Requirements:

Ground Paramedic requirements:

Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required. Graduate from an approved Paramedic course.

Experience: Minimum two years' experience as a licensed driver required. One year Pre-hospital EMS experience preferred.

Required Licensure: State of Alaska Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic (MICP) license, a valid driver's license, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Required Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within three months of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent certification is required within six months of hire.

Other Qualifications: Required to take a defensive driving course. The training must have included an Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) or equivalent and must be repeated every two years. Must maintain ability to pass repeat background checks and ability to possess an identification badge issued by the TSA and airport security.

Attendance: Regular attendance is required for this position.

English Language: Must be able to read, write and speak English.


EMT-III requirements:

Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.

Experience: Minimum two years' experience as a licensed driver required. One year of Pre-hospital EMS experience preferred.

Required Licensure: Current State of Alaska EMT-III certification, Current American Heart Association; Basic Life Support (BLS) and a valid driver's license and at least 2 years' experience as a licensed driver.

Required Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within three months of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent certification is required within 6 months of hire.
