Hours of a Registered Nurse (RN): Non-Exempt/As Scheduled, 8 or 12-hour shifts available.
Position availability: full or part-time evening, full or part-time nights.
Job Summary of a Registered Nurse (RN): Responsible for all phases of the nursing process. Assumes a leadership role and is responsible to direct staff performance on assigned shift. Monitors for and provides quality of life and care to residents in accordance with all GSLS policies and procedures, state and federal regulations and standards of care. When working in the Charge Nurse capacity is responsible for assisting in the operational functions, management and clinical activities of the department.
Salary Range and Benefits of a Registered Nurse (RN):
Salary Range: Base Rate $33.89-$37.00 per hour plus differentials. We offer differentials for charge nurses and shift differentials for evenings and nights in addition to the base wage.

Key Functions of a Registered Nurse (RN):
• Assessment: Assesses resident's health status and needs by assessing, interpreting, recording and communication data relevant to resident care using the nursing process.
• Planning/Implementation/Evaluation: Develops and implements an appropriate plan of care based on assessment and diagnosis tailored to meet each resident's individual needs and preferences (physical, cultural, and psychosocial), evaluates the plan of care and makes necessary changes on an ongoing basis. Administers, delegates, and monitors direct resident services to assure quality of care for all residents in accordance with the privileges and limitations of the Nurse Practice Act. Promotes and implements rehabilitation and restorative measures. With attention directed toward embracing the Culture Charge philosophy, making decisions, writing care plans, and carrying out duties according to the resident's preferred routines and choices.
• Medication Administration: Demonstrates knowledge of medication and their correct administration based on each resident's status, diagnoses, and medication regimen. Observes, documents, and reports resident responses to medications. Is knowledgeable and follows medication policies and procedures.
• Treatments and Clinical Skills: Competently preforms skin treatments, catheterizations, tube feedings, and other treatments and cares as needed. Implements health care measures and delivers direct resident care to meet resident needs.
• Resident, Family and Staff Education: Plans for and provides resident, family, and staff education, identifies learning needs, clearly communicates information, and documents residents and family response to education. Teaches new and current staff as needed.
• Documentation: Documents professionally, accurately, and completely according to current standards, and GSLS policies and procedures.
• Emergency and Disaster Measures: Carries out first aide, emergency, and disaster measures according to policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Physical Demands of a Registered Nurse (RN):
• Regularly required to stand, bend, and walk. May also be required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
• Regularly assigned to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.
• Frequently required to support up to 10-50 pounds.
• Emergency situations could require carrying/supporting 25 pounds or greater.
• Requires employee use hands for repetitive actions such as simple grasping, firm grasping and fine manipulating.
• Requires functional hearing, ability to read medical records, make observatory assessments, and document in writing and computer records.
• Requires functional ability to perform job duties as listed in the job description.
Qualifications of a Registered Nurse (RN):
A. Education/Other-
• Graduate of a registered nurse accredited program required.
• Current active RN nursing licensure in the State of Minnesota in good standing.
• CPR certified.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Clinical experience with geriatrics, long-term care and/or rehabilitation preferred.
• Demonstrates a broad and current knowledge of nursing including gerontological nursing and related aspects such as rehabilitation and metal health.
• Knowledge of and skilled in physical assessment techniques.
• Knowledge of and skilled in use of the nursing process.
• Skilled in oral and written English communication-communicates clear expectations.
• Knowledge of Quality Improvement-welcomes change to improve.
