Residential Group Home Manager
SIGN ON BONUS:

Job Summary
This position is responsible for the management of assigned group home(s) for persons with intellectual disabilities.
Job Duty may require rotation of on-call with other residential staff.
Major Duties
- Coordinates activities with other staff to ensure continuity of care
- Assists persons receiving services in adapting to residential life; conducts orientation for persons being admitted; explains and discusses policy and procedures and informs persons what to expect and what is expected of them; conveys a feeling of acceptance to persons being served and welcomes them
- Assists persons in understanding social and emotional problems and to achieve social, personal, training, and vocational development goals and objectives in accordance with ISPs; provides training leading to increase self-esteem and worth
- Talks with persons served individually or in groups to resolve problems; notifies supervisor if additional counseling is necessary
- Makes recommendations to the Residential Services Specialist to improve rules and regulations governing conditions and care for persons served
- Prepares and supervises assignments of selected chores for persons served and supervises the conduct of them
- Assists in the management of facility consumables
- Inspects rooms on a regular basis; notifies Residential Services Specialist of repair needs
- Develops Direct Care Assistant work schedules
- Transports persons served to access goods and services; assists persons to obtain or purchase personal items and non-medical care
- Schedules and reschedules medical appointments; transports persons to appointments
- Monitors persons served during work assignments, meals, training/therapy sessions, recreational activities, and outside activities; observes persons' well-being, personal hygiene, and emotional needs
- Keeps routine records and makes periodic oral and short written reports; discusses progress of persons served
- Instructs persons served as to proper procedures for handling accidents, fires, and other emergencies
- Assists in arranging proper medical and dental care for persons served; ensures that medications are dispensed in accordance with policies and procedures
- Prepared medications for individual leaving group homes for the weekend
- Received and maintains funds for persons served; provides funds to persons as needed
- Maintains accurate and complete inventory of personal property
- Makes food and supply purchases
- Maintains sign-out log of persons served
- Assists in the daily care and feeding of persons served
- Maintains inventory of group home furnishings and goods
- Maintains certification in CPR, First Aid, Medication Assistance (MAC), and CPI
- Performs other duties and responsibilities necessary; not otherwise specified

Supervisory Controls
The Residential Services Specialist supervises and assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
Guidelines
Guidelines include agency policies, Alabama Department of Metal Health guidelines, and Medicaid guidelines. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
Complexity/Scope of Work
- The work consists of related supervisory and administrative duties. Strict regulations combined with the unique needs of individuals served contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to manage the operations of assigned group home(s). Successful performance contributes to the delivery of effective services to individuals.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, walking, or stooping. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The work is typically performed in an office and in group homes. Work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
Supervisory and Management Responsibility
This position has direct supervision over assigned Direct Care Assistants (48).
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years' experience or service
- Possession of a valid driver's license, good driving record. May require CDL license.
