Job Title: Equipment Tech

Department: Golf

SUMMARY Repairs and maintains golf course machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, hydraulic tools and equipment, grass mowers, and grounds keeping equipment and machines by performing the following duties. Requires valid Arkansas driver’s license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Perform service, maintain and repairs to golf course mowers and equipment, light and heavy trucks, tractors, backhoes, etc.

2. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds and actions to locate causes of trouble.

3. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

4. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

5. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

6. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

7. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.

8. Starts devices to test their performance.

9. Sets up and operates tools to repair equipment parts.

10. Maintain detailed records of work performed, labor and parts, used on each equipment item.

11. Maintain a sufficient inventory of parts, lubricants and supplies at all times.

12. Initiates purchase order for parts and machines. Repairs electrical equipment.

13. Responsible for general maintenance and cleanliness of shop areas.

14. Responsible to keep shop as safe from hazards as possible at all times and implementing the necessary standard safety precautions.

15. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with fellow employees and property owners.

16. May be required to drive POA vehicle or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.

17. Ability to enter and send data on computer.

18. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

19. Regular attendance is required.

20. Inspects and maintains all equipment to assure the highest quality performance.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have sufficient knowledge in both gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and lubricating systems, fuel injection and the operations of hand and power tools. Must be able to weld, gas and acetylene, braze and solder; use sharpeners, grinders and drill press. Must be able to work overtime, on the weekends and holidays. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or technical training. Two years related experience and/or training in small engines or automotive service work or equivalent combination education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply, and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
