Position Title: Specialty Foods Retail Clerk

Palmer Candy Company is looking for a Full-time Team Member for our Candy Store. We are looking for a Team Member who is outgoing, approachable, believes in a great customer experience and loves both gourmet food and chocolate.

Candidate must be available to work any shift hours throughout the week: Monday - Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Overall Purpose
Palmer Candy Company is now more than candy; we have expanded our candy store by adding a gourmet food section that is sure to have something for everyone! We are looking for a Gourmet Store Team Member who is outgoing, approachable, believes in a great customer experience and loves both gourmet food and chocolate.

Essential Functions

• Candidate is a student of the business of food, watches trends, and is current on what is new and fresh in the food world.
• Willingness to complete the everyday tasks associated with a retail store is required and will include, but is not limited to:
• Assisting customers
• Running a register
• Stocking, pricing, and rotating product
• Creating orders for pickup
• Assist with store decoration
• Inventory control, purchasing, etc.
• Cleanliness for food safety
• Reporting and researching new food trends
• Taking ownership of sampling products

Required Education and Experience.

• The qualified candidate will have at least 3 years of related experience in retail sales (prefer in food sales, ideal would have gourmet experience).
• Food related experience required (restaurant, hobby, culinary school, etc.). An understanding of nutrition along with the knowledge of where to find all types of food (outside of the grocery store) is ideal.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required. This person may represent our company at local gourmet cooking clubs. Must be inspired by the idea of educating customers beyond their current food use.
• Intermediate computer skills required in both Word and Excel and must have a working knowledge of current social media and blogs.
