Howard University Hospital seeks to hire a Echocardiograph Technologist in the Echocardiograph Lab who will embrace our rich and historic tradition of excellence. The Echocardiograph Technologist: (PRN) available hours are Monday-F hours are 7am-530 pm, Must be able to work weekends

Performs echocardiograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies the cardiologist of findings. Consults with the cardiologist to establish requirements for non-standard examination and determine technical factors to satisfy requirements. Supports the cardiologists in non-invasive testing and diagnosis. Works closely with the cardiologist to diagnose a variety of cardiovascular diseases, illnesses and disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Sets up and adjusts all imaging equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
  • Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
  • Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
  • Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Ensures all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
  • Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents are sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures. Practices radiation safety and ensures that other staff and students are compliant.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
  • Performs data entry as it relates to procedures including charges pick lists, logbook, and schedule related functions to ensure corporate compliance.
  • Analyzes, processes, and reports outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered as all-inclusive.

Requirements:

Education- Associate degree from an accredited school for echocardiography required. Bachelors’ degree
preferred.
Experience: At least one year of cardiology experience. ( Adult and pediatric)
Certification and Licensure: Registered Echo Sonographer (RCVT, RDCS) or registry eligible. If not registered, must achieve registry within 12 months.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.
