Don’t miss this unique opportunity to join our Day Program team without working nights, weekends, or holidays! Become our next Day Program Aide and support individuals with disabilities to achieve meaningful and valued roles in the community. We provide all training needed on-campus.

As a Day Program Aide, you'll play an essential role in enriching the lives of the individuals we support. Through fostering their social skills, promoting independence, and facilitating opportunities to be a part of the community, you'll contribute to their growth and fulfillment.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Assists program participants in the areas of work, independent living, self-management within the community, and social and independent living skills development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Establishes and maintains a rapport with Day Habilitation program participants. Ensures and safeguards members’ human dignity, rights and liberties.
  • Assists with participant services in accordance with Day Habilitation regulations in the areas of independent living, self-management within the community, and social and independent living skills development.
  • Assists program participants in making and expressing choices based on assessments and other service need indicators.
  • Assists in providing community activities and supervises implementation of services created by program team.
  • Compiles activity based documentation to support goal implementation.
  • Provides physical assistance to participants, as needed, including, but not limited to, toileting, transferring and feeding.
  • Adheres to all state day habilitation regulations and Agency policies and procedures.
  • Keeps management abreast of planned activities, as well as, any potential participant issues or needs which are not being met.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with community contacts, colleagues, management and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) service coordination staff.
  • Implements behavior plans and/or protocols designed by the team and behavioral specialist.
  • Serves as mandated reported for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC).

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a community health setting preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to provide hands-on personal care.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form with coworkers and supported individuals and read fluently.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts required.
  • Successful completion of all state and Agency mandated trainings required upon hire.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • No supervisory responsibility.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and twisting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pull up or transfer individuals weighing up to 250 pounds.
