Rapid City Medical Center has full-time Laboratory Manager position available. This role is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all aspects of the laboratory department. Join a fast-paced, hard-working team!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Manages laboratory services in accordance with clinical & governmental standards and within established budget.
  • Facilitates development of department mission, goals, policies, procedures, work standards.
  • Ensures accurate and appropriate completion of laboratory tests including the processing of outside laboratory tests.
  • Compiles/analyzes data on departmental productivity, activity, finances, prepares and presents statistical information to administration.
  • Coordinates cost-effective ordering/receiving/inventorying of laboratory supplies with medical Materials/Purchasing Manager.
  • Selects, orients/trains, monitors, evaluates employees. Oversees work assignments and daily operations.
  • Reviews departmental performance and ensures compliance with accreditation, legal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews Quality Controls to ensure instrument performance.
  • Implements Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
  • Performs technical diagnostic work.
  • Prepares detailed specifications for equipment purchased for use in the laboratory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:  BA/BS


EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of five years of progressively responsible

positions in laboratory. Supervisory experience preferred.


REQUIREMENTS:  Certification as Medical Technologist (ASCP/AMT).


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:  Moves among many outpatient and inpatient settings. Exposure to communicable diseases, sharp instruments, bodily fluids, cleaning chemicals.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to walk to various settings and to bend and reach.  Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies and equipment and help with patient transport and transfer.  Occasional stress in dealing with priorities.
