Community Support (CPRC) Supervisor

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Full Time: Exempt
Work Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm. Some evenings may be required dependent upon agency and client need.
Pay Range: $52,000 - 57,000.00 / year dependent upon qualifications and relevant experience.

Must Meet One of the Following Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP); or,
  2. Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP); or,
  3. Must meet the qualifications of a CSS (Community Support Specialist - listed at bottom of posting) with at least three years of experience providing community support services to individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders in accordance with the community support key service functions specified in 9 CSR 30-3.157 Community Support in CSTAR and 9 CSR 10-4.047 Community Support in CPR. Experience is specific to the adult or child/youth/adolescent population the individual will supervise.

Preference will go to those with prior supervisory experience.

This position requires a valid driver's license, proof of continuous auto insurance, and must have an acceptable driving record as outlined by agency policy.

The Program
Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (CPRC) is a program designed for adults and children with disabilities in social role functioning and daily living skills. Program staff work closely with clients in a variety of community settings to provide wide-range counseling and case management services to promote recovery. The services are designed to help patients with chronic and persistent mental health disorders avoid psychiatric hospitalization and continue to live within the community.

The Job

As the CPRC Supervisor, you would be responsible for the clinical and administrative supervision of the delivery of Community Support and crisis intervention services of an assigned team with the Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (CPRC). As a supervisor in the CPRC program, you would be supervising a team of eight Community Support Caseworkers, screen referrals, complete eligibility's, monitor assessments and treatment plans. Emergency services and direct services as assigned are a part of the duties.

Competencies Needed for Success

  1. Practice in a manner that demonstrates use of management strategies that focus on individual outcomes, care coordination, collaboration, and communication with internal and external service providers.
  2. Ensure new and existing staff are competent by providing training/supervision, guidance and feedback, field mentoring, and oversight of services to individuals served by your team.
  3. Ensure appropriate tracking and review of data such as missed appointments, hospitalization and follow-up care, crisis responsiveness and follow-up, timeliness and quality of documentation, and need for outreach and engagement.
  4. Monitor and review services, interventions, and contacts with individuals served to ensure services are implemented according to the individualized treatment plans or crisis prevention plans. Must also evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of services in achieving recovery/resiliency outcomes in areas such as housing, employment, education, leisure activities and family, peer and social relationships.

Who You Supervise

Community Support Caseworkers (x8)

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  1. Screen referrals, complete eligibility's, assign clients to staff and assure assessments and treatment plans are completed within CPRC timeframes.
  2. Facilitate and provide leadership of CS treatment team meetings.
  3. Monitor direct services by providing regular and frequent supervision, regular review of written documentation, reviewing client status, referral needs, and making in-home conjoint visits with assigned staff.
  4. Ensure attainment of work performance productivity standards of assigned staff.
  5. Identify and review staff training needs, develop individual and group activities to ensure orientation and continuing education/training objectives are completed within CPRC time-lines.
  6. Provide leadership in establishing effective working relationships with other CCC services and outside agencies, including identification of new community resources for CS clients.
  7. Be available to respond to client emergencies during office hours, provide direct client care services as assigned.
  8. Maintain appropriate supervisor boundaries.
  9. Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
  10. Supervise and direct supervisees in the performance of their job functions.
  11. Proactively provide feedback and training to supervise to assist them with meeting performance expectations.
  12. Hold direct supervisees accountable for the satisfactory performance of their job functions, including issuing corrective discipline and make recommendations for terminations, when warranted.

Community Support Specialist Qualifications:
Individual meeting one of the following qualifications:
1. Qualified mental health professional;
2. Qualified addiction professional;
3. Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from a college or university included in the U.S. Department of
Education’s database of accredited schools at http:/ope.ed.gov/accreditation ;
4. Any four-year degree or combination of higher education and qualifying experience;
5. Four years of qualifying experience; or
6. Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree as designated by the department.
Qualifying experience must include delivery of service to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or
developmental disabilities. Experience must include at least one of the following:
1. Providing one-on-one or group services with a rehabilitation/habilitation and recovery/resiliency focus;
2. Teaching and modeling for individuals how to cope and manage psychiatric, developmental, or substance use
issues while encouraging the use of natural resources/supports;
3. Supporting individuals in their efforts to find and maintain housing, employment, and/or function appropriately
in a family, school, and the community;
4. Assisting individuals to achieve the goals and objectives on their individualized treatment plan.
