Pro Shop Associate

The Opportunity:

To ensure all guests and groups are greeted in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner, handle all and payment transactions, maximize guest satisfaction, will assist Golf Shop Manager in management and operation of the golf course in general and provide assistance to assure the course and facilities are ready for use on a day-to-day basis and perform general duties as assigned. This is a seasonal position.

The Golf Shop Attendant assists in the daily operations and maintenance of the Golf Course Shop and Clubhouse, to ensure all golfers and guests have an enjoyable experience. The Golf Shop Attendant is a part-time seasonal position normally lasting between Mid-April and Mid-November, with the possibility of working occasional offseason functions as well.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide exceptional service.
  • Handle sales transactions made through the Pro Shop, both cash and credit.
  • Perform all opening and closing procedures.
  • Take phone calls, answer questions regarding our course, and book Tee Times based on availability.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness for all areas within the department.
  • Occasional need to move/shuffle golf carts for guests.
  • Report stock levels of guest, retail and office supplies to the manager.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations established in the standard operation procedure manual for Thousand Hills Golf Course
  • Report all incidents of guest dissatisfaction to the manager.
  • Report all accidents/injuries that occur during the execution of Pro Shop business or on Thousand Hills Golf Course property through proper channels.
  • Must be highly service focused with a desire to engage with guests.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards, attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness a must.
  • Professional knowledge of the standards and techniques of playing golf and of golf terminology and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of equipment necessary to maintain and efficiently operate a golf course and related facilities.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers.
  • Able to work in outside weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of golf course management and operation practices and procedures is preferred.
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to use, business telephone manners and etiquette.
  • Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis.
  • Have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Be able to work weekends and holidays, mornings and evenings as business demands.
  • Basic Computer Skills - Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, POS, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.).
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Analytical/Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examine data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generate alternative solutions to problems; evaluate strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems.
  • Number Facility - The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.
