About the Role:

As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for accurately processing and managing duties assigned by the controller relating to the accounting department. This role requires a high level of precision, confidentiality, and the ability to work with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate accounting processing. Ability to handle confidential information in a responsible manner and accurately input financial transactions into the accounting software. Ability to maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.

Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank accounts daily.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial closings.
  • Generate financial reports as needed.
  • Assist with auditing activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Provide support to other members of the accounting team as needed.
  • Assist with accounts payable by processing payable invoices, verifying accuracy, and making payments in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring and recording transactions for credit cards.
  • Recording Transactions/Reconciliation of daily cash.

Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administering the process of employee’s pay through ADP on a weekly basis, including off-cycle payrolls when applicable.
  • Maintain payroll system information and ensure the retention and security of employee personal data ensuring the timely and smooth onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  • Uploading, editing, and amending payroll data as needed.
  • Solving payroll related issues and timely respond to employees’ inquiries.
  • Record adjustments to pay related changes, including increases, bonuses, and comp analysis results.
  • Maintain and update weekly 401k contributions, including changes to 401k or Roth contributions, loans, and newly eligible participants.
  • Reconciling payroll related general ledger accounts.
  • Provide certified payroll for OCIP, CCIP, and ACIP and prevailing wage data when required and assist with audits.
  • Assist with workers compensation audits and policy renewal providing requested data.
  • Assist in balance cash and payroll accounts.
  • Assist with acquisition payroll integrations.
  • Monitor and approve payroll tax filings.
  • Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives and other ad-hoc projects and reporting as necessary.
  • Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit deductions, and collective agreement provisions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain controls and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, union collective bargaining agreement and company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
