Salary: $18-$25/hr.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be primarily responsible to create complete drawing sets including Submittal, Fabrication, Erection and Field Use drawings of fabricated metal parts and assemblies.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (“Incidental” job duties may be included but must be indicated. Other essential and incidental job duties may be assigned.)
• Create a set of shop drawings and erection drawings for structural steel items defined in the project scope showing required dimensions, welds, finishes, hole locations for: Embeds, Anchor Bolts, Bearing Plates, Angles, Setting Plates, Leveling Plates, Lintels, Columns, Beams, Frames, Bracing etc.
• Create a set of shop drawings for miscellaneous steel items defined in the project scope showing required dimensions, details, finishes, metal types, welds, hole locations for Stairs, Railings, Frames, Grates, Grills, Guardrails, Screens, Covers etc.
• Assemble complete drawing submittal packages according to project schedule requirements.
• Prioritize drawing creation per project schedule and engineering requirements.
• Develop detailed material lists as required for each scope item to aid material purchasing and shop inventory.
• Review and revise submittal drawings returned from the customer and or engineer in a timely manner.
• Actively participate in the fabrication, installation and closeout of projects as an essential part of the project team.
• Collaborate with estimator, fabrication shop and project manager to identify fabrication and or installation conflicts and develop an appropriate cost-effective resolution.
• Assist project manager and estimator with change order pricing as needed.
• Create drawings of fabrications that meet access and clearance requirements with other trades.
• Detail cost effective fabricated and installed products that meet the code and contract requirements.
• Assist the estimating staff with material takeoff for project bids.
• Take field measurements to complete fabrication drawings as necessary.
• Create and respond to general contractor or owner RFI’s for projects.
• Organize and update drawing and submittal files in project folders.
• Assist on BIM Modeling coordination meetings when required.
• Build and develop trusting relationships with current customers and seek to identify opportunities to grow our customer base and build positive relationships.


EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE (Include necessary licenses and specialized training.).
• College degree preferred with a degree in Engineering, Detailing or 3D Modelin; or 3+ years prior work experience in estimating, project management or drafting may substitute.
• Have a minimum of two years of experience detailing miscellaneous metals of structural steel projects preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Architectural and Structural building plans and specifications is a must.
• Knowledge of weld types and sizing
• Knowledge of construction techniques, especially structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
• Knowledge of ADA requirements for stairs, railing, and guardrail construction.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal, writing and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of AISC and AWS standards, codes and requirements.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Possess comprehensive demonstrable knowledge of AutoCad programs and be able to convert drawings from Bluebeam, PDF and other formats.
• Ability to use and work in Tekla BIM modeling software a plus.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision at a high-level of accuracy and efficiency
• Ability to multitask, management of multiple projects
• Ability to adjust to daily work requirements in a fast-paced environment
• Must have a valid Maryland/Virginia/DC driver’s license with a clean record that meets the standards for insurability by our Auto Insurance Carrier.
