About this job

Summary: Performs a variety of clerical and analytical tasks to assist the Office of Human Resources with departmental and company programs and initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with the maintenance of employment data and data integrity within the human resources information system (HRIS); preparing and maintaining reports as necessary; processing employment paperwork and maintaining personnel files; conducting research, compiling and analyzing information on a variety of human resources topics to assist the department in increasing efficiency and identifying best practices. Responsible for providing transportation services for the company and assisting with various other duties as requested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Safely transports and/or picks up company resources including but not limited to:
    • Intercompany mail
    • U.S. Mail
    • Banking deposits
    • Injured workers and other workers compensation cases
    • Production supplies
  • Maintain high standards of safety, care, confidentiality, and discretion at all times
  • Effective time and scheduling management along with good navigation and directional awareness
  • Serve as a resource on Human Resource issues through effective communication of company policies, processes, and procedures
  • Consistently maintaining favorable and effective relations among employees
  • Enters and maintains employment information in the HRIS system and other required systems (E-Verify, Indiana New Hire, etc.) and ensures timely and accurate recordkeeping
  • Processes personnel documentation and maintains non-exempt personnel files
  • Evaluates, analyzes, and maintains the HRIS
  • Administers various company processes such as the attendance program, company loans, identification badges, rentals of the Sand Farm, Gamma Ray physicals.
  • Assists with preparing and maintaining job descriptions, job advertisements, work process sheets, training documentation, verifications of employment, unemployment reports, and other reports
  • Maintains proper registration of the company fleet and coordinates maintenance and usage of the HR fleet.
  • Prepares recurring and ad-hoc personnel, benefits and other pertinent Human Resources reports to assist in analyzing data and planning
  • Develops, formats, edits, and types memos, letters, reports, labels, and other documents as deemed appropriate
  • Serve as a resource on Human Resource issues through effective communication of company policies, processes, and procedures
  • Consistently maintaining favorable and effective relations among employees
  • Serves as the primary back-up to the Company Driver
  • Serves as back-up to others in the departmental staff as needed
  • Follows job work instructions and training matrix, where applicable.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

The ideal candidate will be Bi-lingual in English and Spanish with the ability to converse and interpret both in verbal and written forms strongly preferred.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Basic knowledge of computers is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid state-issued Driver's License is required to be maintained at all times.

Additional Information:

General knowledge of streets and routes in Attica, Williamsport, Lafayette, and West Lafayette is preferred. Familiarity with using maps or GPS is preferred.
