Job Summary

Provides leadership as health care facilities grow and change so that the physical environment meets the needs of its users and also portrays a positive image to patients, staff and the public. This leadership is delivered by providing architectural services specialized to health care, including but not limited to, planning, estimating, design, and coordination to develop projects as well as serving as the project s Owner Representative with consultants and contractors. Leads all new construction and remodeling projects for Sanford facilities. Responsible for leading project design, estimating, project management, cost accounting and code compliance. Oversees construction progress, ensuring that timing, costs and contract requirements are adhered to. Supervises construction, building equipment installation, renovation and redesigning projects. Provides direction to and oversees the work of a large group of diverse team members from multiple disciplines. May shift work assignments due to changes in project priorities. Serves as an expert on construction codes and compliance; must maintain comprehensive knowledge of codes and practices, as well as current and emerging developments in the field through continuous education. Serves as a mentor.

Oversees all phases in the project life cycle including pre-design, programming, design, construction and occupancy phases. Effectively communicates and advises end-users on project scope, schedule and budget, reviewing designs, equipment specifications/substitutions, purchasing and accounting procedures. Reviews contractor and architectural drawings for code compliance involving City, State, IBC, NFPA, and JCAHO and other regulatory bodies' requirements. Responsible for maintaining compliance with Sanford Infection Control Procedures, Safety, Asbestos, and other applicable policies will also be required. This position requires familiarity with electrical/mechanical systems and oversees all contractors in the project. Develops and designs feasibility studies for review. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.

Must have five years' experience managing construction projects with three years of experience in healthcare construction projects. Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of design principles, scheduling, construction means and methods and codes.

Must maintain a valid driver's license. Also, required certification such as Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), Certified Facility Manager (CFM); Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) desired.
