Accounting Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

General Purpose

The Accounting Assistant’s responsibility is to collaborate with the Accounting Controller and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks. The successful candidate should ensure smooth operations and assist the team in anything they need.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

·         Print statements and complete bank reconciliations for all bank accounts.

·         Post and process monthly recurring GL entries. 

·         Balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Scan and save monthly packets to the shared drive.
  • File monthly packets to individual property financial statement and bank reconciliation binders.
  • Assist with the administration of the 401k Plan including processing and verifying 401k contributions to the vendor website, filing Form 5500 for 401k Plan and distributing the SAR.
  • Assist with payroll processing and gathering of hours.
  • Act as the back-up to the AP position (cross-training provided).
  • Complete BPOL forms.
  • Complete income and expense survey forms.
  • Complete personal property tax forms.
  • Assist with the annual budget process.
  • Pull requested data for outside auditors for annual audit of associations.
  • Coordinate all aspects of open enrollment for health and disability insurance plans with providers, Redwood management and staff.
  • Assist the accounting team with various tasks.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Excellent planning and organizing abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and experience utilizing accounting system are required.
  • Experience using Sage Timberline accounting systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
