Summary:

AlexRenew’s Intern will work on a wide variety of projects within AlexRenew’s Departments. Internship is for the summer of 2024, maximum 12 weeks during the months of May through August working a maximum twenty-nine (29) hours per week depending on the candidate’s availability. The intern must be seeking a degree in engineering, environmental sciences/studies, biology, chemistry, communications, marketing, or related discipline and be in good academic standing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and review of various communications, including social media and website content.
  • Assist on the planning and execution of internal and community outreach events.
  • Review studies and reports and develop presentations and memorandums.
  • Assist in the coordination and tracking of progress on ongoing construction.
  • Conduct field visits with various staff to observe wastewater treatment plant projects and construction.
  • Attend various trainings and meetings and assist with tracking follow-up actions.
  • Adhere to AlexRenew Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs; abide by the policies, procedures and rules set forth by the programs; actively participate in the programs to assist in providing a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree seeking individual in the field of Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience working in a professional environment.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, hardworking, detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable and highly efficient and able to work independently with an eye for attention to detail.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A detailed Physical Demands Analysis is available in Human Resources and a copy will be provided to all incumbents in this position. While performing the duties of this job, typical of office work, include lifting up to 10 pounds, and minimal pushing or pulling.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Environmental conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and use of Personal Protective Equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs work indoors in a climate controlled environment, with outdoor trips between buildings.
