Restek Corporation is currently seeking an Operations Technician I to join the Gas Chromatography Quality Control (GCQC) department. GCQC is an analytical discipline that requires the use of gas chromatographs to test the GC columns. The work done in this department is extremely quantitative therefore the successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and a willingness to learn about the analytical techniques, methods and metrics use to test products.

Typical responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation and installation of GC (gas chromatography) capillary columns
  • Use of GC and custom software to rest the performance of GC columns
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)

This position requires basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) knowledge is preferred. Effective time management is crucial to this department as there are many timed processes happening simultaneously to maximize testing output while minimizing instrument downtime. This Operations Technician role will work second shift Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm.

Physical requirements of this position include standing or sitting 8-10 hrs. per shift schedule with occasional breaks, reaching, pulling, fingering, pinching, grasping, typing, repetitive motion, perceiving by touching temperature, shape or size, occasionally exerting up to 20 lbs. of pressure/frequently up to 10 lbs. Will be exposed to fumes, odors, dust or gases.

Job Duties:

1. Process and manufacture productsin assigned area to maintain appropriate inventory levels and service backorders in a timely manner as determined by operation requirements. May providetechnical training and “hands on” support to others in assigned area when asufficient level of expertise is attained.

2. Track and maintain raw materialsas necessary to facilitate their respective process.

3. Adhere to Standard OperatingProcedures (SOP) within their assigned area.

4. Maintain records and databasesas required in their respective process, including Statistical Product Control(SPC) or other quality records. Has a basic understanding of the data in orderto recognize problems.

5. Maintain equipment withinassigned area, including making basic repairs or performing equipmentinstallation as directed.

6. Review product requirements anddetermine basic performance to quality standards.

7. Understand and follow safehandling procedures for all chemicals and equipment and consult the safetyofficer, reference books, or MSDS when safety is in question. Adhere toRestek’s safety codes and regulations.

8. Attend and participate indepartmental /team meetings.

9. Perform other duties asassigned.

Qualifications:

Education &Skills

· Minimum of high schooldiploma/GED

· Prefer 2 years specializedtraining in a science-related technology or relevant experience

· Ability to perform basic leveljob responsibilities, including problem solving using basic math and scientificrules

Knowledge, Skills,Abilities

· Exhibits a friendly and helpfulmanner and is able to work well with others in a team environment.

· Good attention to detail andaccuracy

· Good problem solving skills

· Working knowledge of MicrosoftOffice Suite and basic ERP system

· Ability to communicate both oraland written instruction to other functions in the manufacturing area

· Ability to provide basic systemand process training.
