Job Description
IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 121-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seeks an experienced Punch Press Operator who is a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while upholding a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. This position, based in our facility in Mansfield, Ohio reports to the Assembly Supervisor and plays a key role in the manufacture and delivery quality Ideal products and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform work as detailed in blueprints, drawings, work instructions, work orders, drawings, and data specifications.
  • Set up fixtures, frames, arbors, and stator heads for lamination stacking, producing a variety of rotor poles, stator, and or transformer cores.
  • Set up and operate a variety of equipment including punch presses, large and small squaring shears and feeders, and spot welders.
  • Wind rotors and poles with copper bars and/or end rings, cleaning copper as needed.
  • Drill pole mounting holes, rivets, to form a variety of parts using hand rolls or power presses.
  • Hand-feed sheet metal into presses when required.
  • Move materials to and from equipment being operated.
  • Perform work to meet required tolerances and finish specifications. 
  • Properly instruct new learners on all duties of the position.
  • Obtain parts and supplies necessary for completing assigned work. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment 
  • Experience with motors, generators, and large rotating equipment helpful
  • Comprehension of and ability to perform work according to blueprints, drawings, work  instructions, and work orders 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment 
  • Experience using hand tools, tape measures and other measuring equipment/gages, punch presses, hydraulic presses, hand torch, power wrenches, power shears, band saw, powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, power hoist, grinders, electric and air hand drills, impact hammer, weigh scales, induction heating equipment, arbor press, pyrometer.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS
  • Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends when necessary
  • This position generally operates in the manufacturing areas of the facility
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
  • is regularly required to talk, hear, read, and write 
  • is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, crouch, crawl, kneel, and balance 
  • will be required to ascend and work from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and stairs, and to lift and/or move weights of up to 30 pounds unassisted with regularity 
  • is occasionally required climb heights of up to 20 feet 
  • must be able to exhibit specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
