LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or RN (Registered Nurse) Day Shift Private Duty Full Time

Private LPN or RN opportunity to work with a 23-year-old male client in Binghamton, New York.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Provide personal attendant/companionship services to the client at his residence.

• Maintain a safe, secure, clean, and orderly environment for the client.

• Provide assistance with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

• Plan and prepare tube feedings.

• Manage/maintain tracheotomy and provide tracheotomy care/suctioning.

• Manage/maintain suprapubic tube and colostomy.

• Assist with wound care as directed by providers.

• Assist with oral care and suctioning.

• Assist with range of motion exercises and exercise routines established by a physical therapist.

• Perform light housework when such activities are related to the independent living of the client

• Attend client appointments, outside/social activities, and errands using the handicap-modified vehicle with the assistance of a second person.

• Provide stimulation and entertainment, including conversation, reading, television, scheduling activities, outings, etc.

• Provide support, comfort, and companionship.

• Complete shift logs during each shift thoroughly and accurately.

• Respond quickly to emergencies by notifying appropriate persons and calling 911 as necessary and appropriate.

• Administer medications to the client via G-tube as directed by his medical professionals.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support the client's care and companionship.

• Must be ok with a friendly dog in the home and assisting with her care.

EXPECTATIONS

• Maintain regular and consistent attendance. If you cannot work your scheduled shift or need to make changes to your schedule, this must be communicated directly to and approved by the designated person.

• Limit personal calls, text messages, social media, etc. to breaks except in case of a family emergency or if it relates to the client.

• Phones should be silent and put away while working, especially with the client and when there are tasks to be completed.

• Must exhibit professional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills in all interactions.

Must demonstrate a high level of autonomy, which may include completing and communicating tasks without reminders.

• Offering proactive support to the client.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate information concerning the health and condition of the client in a clear and concise manner.

• Ability to work with the client in a patient and supportive manner.

• Possess a valid driver’s license. The employee must notify TEAM immediately if the employee’s driver’s license is suspended or revoked for any reason or if the employee is convicted of any crimes.

• All hours must be recorded on the TEAM time sheet during each shift.

• Working outside of the employee's scheduled hours without advanced approval is prohibited.

Physical ability to perform the job:

• Lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds.

• Work while standing 30-50% of the time.

• Physically respond quickly to sounds and emergencies.

• Ability to perform the essential job duties and expectations with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Adhere to all policies provided in the TEAM Employee Handbook and directions from the client and designated person.

• Must have BLS certification or similar.

• Ventilator, tracheostomy, suprapubic, and colostomy experience are a plus; all new hires will be trained on these skills.
