Hours of Work: M-F, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

PURPOSE
The Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Deputy COO) is a strategic and results-oriented leader who plays a vital role in supporting the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of the Tribe’s client and community services as well as administrative support departments. This individual will work collaboratively with various assigned departments, providing leadership, strategic direction, and operational expertise to ensure the achievement of organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Strategic Initiatives and Project Management:
o Partner with the COO and senior leadership team to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence.
o Lead and manage cross-functional teams to execute key projects, ensuring timely and successful completion within budget and scope.
o Monitor progress and identify potential roadblocks, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain project momentum.


• Operational Support and Improvement:
o Collaborate with departmental leaders to identify areas for operational improvement and develop and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness.
o Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
o Oversee the implementation of best practices and streamline operational processes across various departments.


• Leadership and Collaboration:
o Provide strategic direction and leadership to assigned teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and ownership.
o Build strong working relationships with department heads and senior leaders across the organization.
o Effectively communicate operational goals, challenges, and solutions to various stakeholders.


• Risk Management and Compliance:
o Assist in identifying and mitigating operational risks.
o Ensure operational activities comply with all relevant regulations and legal requirements.
o Develop and implement risk management frameworks and protocols.

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams, driving operational improvements, and executing projects effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while also being a team player and collaborating effectively across departments.
• Proficient in project management methodologies and data analysis tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in a leadership role within a similar industry, with a strong understanding of operational processes.


UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS
Most of the work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
