As a Pharmacy Technician, you will primarily compound or make medication using large tablet presses and encapsulation machines under the guidance of a Pharmacist. Additionally, you will be tasked with cleaning and maintaining the equipment or machines used. Other responsibilities include weighing and mixing according to the formula/recipe, counting, pouring, and labeling medications. Here at The Compounding Center, you will gain experience in all aspects of medication compounding and play a significant role in taking care of both human and animal patients.

Essential Responsibilities:

Compound preparations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
Operate a tablet and capsule press and heavy machinery according to policy and procedures
Clean and maintain compounding equipment and work areas as specified by PCAB and store policies
Troubleshoot mechanical problems as they arise
Complete appropriate math and measurements for compounding
Provide labeling for compounded preparations
Maintain required documentation for compounding and patient records
Fill patient prescriptions according to regulations and store policies
Perform competency testing as required
Assist with maintaining accurate inventory and pricing for all chemicals and formulas
Assist with maintaining an on order list and a need to make stock list
Be aware of budget goals and assist staff in achieving those goals
Monitor environment and record environmental measurements as specified by PCAB and store policies
Restock chemicals, drugs, and formulations as needed
Complete prescription filling duties promptly
Complete necessary documentation of prescription filling in pharmacy software
Maintain licensure, ongoing education, and training as per the VA State

Qualifications/Requirements:

Virginia Technician Registration is preferred but not required (A Virginia Technician Trainee program is available).
Ability to do basic math to perform accurate pharmaceutical calculations.
Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment and the desire to develop and grow.
Work well independently and cooperatively in a group setting.
Must be detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
This job requires fine motor skills, good hand coordination, and the ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
Above average computer and data entry skills.
Amenable to work onsite.
Compounding experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided.

Pharmacy Hours:

Monday Friday: 9 am 6 pm
Saturday: 9 am 3 pm (Approx. 1 Saturday per month)
Sunday: Closed

Work Schedule:

Rotating 8-hour day shift between 7 am and 6 pm
Monday to Friday
Rotating weekends
Weekend availability (Saturday)

Salary: $17.50 - $22.50 per hour (Salary commensurate with experience or credentials)
Expected hours: 40 per week
