Responsibilities:

Team Management: Manage day-to-day activities of the Maintenance department and outside building contractors. Will establish goals, priorities and evaluate Performance of staff to ensure the maximum benefit of the resources expended. Creates an empowered environment ensuring that the maintenance organization and its people understand the goals and objectives of the business and that they have the resources and support to accomplish them. Establishes an environment that ensures and supports open and friendly communication.

CapEx Execution: Prepare and manage the facility Capital Asset Project proposals supporting ROI/documentation. Ensure that projects are planned properly to provide sufficient funding. Review data to ensure that the results are achievable and obtain necessary approvals. Closely monitor projects to ensure they are completed as planned and that the funds are utilized properly. On an ongoing basis, initiate design changes and modifications to further improve machine efficiency, to facilitate design changes and cost reductions, and to expand the capability of existing equipment to handle new products.

Strategic Planning: Development of both strategic capital plans, ensuring an acceptable return on investment replacement of worn or obsolete equipment, and expansion of capacity to meet sales growth, equipment modification or replacement related to cost reduction, as well as development of expanded productive capacity for new products.

Process & Program Standardization: Responsible for ensuring that all maintenance processes are completely documented (including Capital start-up plans, SOP’s and run documents) and implement changes to these processes. Accountable for the development and implementation of effective preventive maintenance programs, along with the establishment of a proficient maintenance stores procurement and inventory control system, as applicable.

Risk Management: Responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements pertaining to the areas of waste disposal, facility permits and codes. Responsible for timely filing of all regulatory documents to the appropriate Federal, State, and Local Governmental agencies. Ensure that safety and security measures are in place for the facility. This includes fire code and insurance carrier requirements, and maintenance of an internal alarm and evacuation system.

Budget Management: Maintains operating budgets and capital budgets with other leadership teams and external members. Manage department expense budgets with appropriate accounting information and support. Develops short- and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies.

Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to translate strategy into actionable information in small or large groups in a clear and concise and professional manner.

Leadership: This job has full management responsibility for the maintenance organization, including management of people, defining roles and responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes. Manage Maintenance resources, equipment, and materials to support plant operations by implementing capital projects aimed to advance the manufacturing process by reducing cost, waste and improve efficiency, quality, and safety

What You Get to Do:

  • Act as a safety leader that puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EH&S to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development to include goal setting, identifying improvement targets for KPI’s and performance management
  • Works with internal and external resources to provide solutions and improvements to machines, equipment, and facility to meet plant goals, reduce costs, ensure Safety compliance and improve overall equipment effectiveness
  • Leads the PM Pillar and launches teams to improve equipment reliability
  • Develops and outlines a program of continuous improvement for the maintenance department and PM program
  • Promotes a strong safety culture and demonstrates adherence to all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Meet and exceed plant business plan and KPI’s
Requirements:

Job Qualifications

Minimum 7-10 years of manufacturing experience, plus progressive leadership experience

Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and P.M. (preventive maintenance) practices

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Adheres to all company and departmental safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or varying hours as necessary.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
  • Have excellent customer service skills. Maintain positive, cooperative, and professional attitude while focusing on serving internal customers. Understands customer needs and expectations.
  • Have strong organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Be adaptable to change.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills to work as member of a team. Possess the ability to teach and pass on skills knowledge to others.
  • Have the ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Able to read and interpret ladder logic diagrams. Have ability to write and modify PLC programs using a PC interface.
  • Have computer literacy to be able to use CMMS, electronic mail communication, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments (electrical metering equipment, multi-meters, calipers, and gauge pins, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper-level work area.
  • Ability to push and pull with the arms and body to move items on two-wheeled dolly, four-wheeled cart, and hydraulic pallet jack.
  • Ability to stand and walk to perform machine and equipment inspections and to perform needed repairs and adjustments.
