Job Description

School counselors design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes. They lead, advocate, and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their school counseling program to the school’s academic mission and school improvement plan. They uphold the ethical and professional standards of ASCA and promote the development of the school counseling program based on the following areas of the ASCA National Model: define, deliver, manage, and assess. The School Counselor promotes and enhances the learning process for students through an integration of academic, personal/social, and post-secondary development.


Job Responsibilities

  • Contributes to and/or manages the School Counseling Program using the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model
  • Counsels students regarding educational issues such as course and program selection, class scheduling, school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and college/career planning
  • Counsels individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations
  • Delivers counseling services through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling
  • Analyzes data and uses results to inform stakeholders and continuously improve programs


Job Qualifications

  • Master's degree in school counseling, psychology, or related field
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License - School Counselor
  • Unwaveringly high expectations for all students with the belief that every child should have access to a college education. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful working conditions. 
  • Initiative and strong work ethic. 
  • Experience in a diverse, public school setting is preferred.


Salary and Benefits

Vega Collegiate Academy offers a competitive salary and comprehensive health benefits package.   The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $90,000.
