Job Description

THRIVE is an award-winning, ISO 9001 certified end-to-end product development and innovation strategy firm. Our company is built on Informed Design — an empathy-driven, human-centered approach that helps us and our clients design, develop, and engineer products that have real meaning and experiences that people love. You can find our innovations positively impacting lives in homes, hospitals, and businesses around the world. This is why THRIVE continues to be a trusted advisor to some of the world's most iconic brands, including AT&T, Amazon, Amgen, Becton Dickinson, Coca-Cola, Keurig, Hillrom, Intuitive Surgical, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald's, Samsung, Wolf, and SC Johnson. Now, we're looking to add even more talent to our awesome team!

Hello, we're THRIVE

We're a group of creative professionals raising the bar on Informed Design. We design human-centered brands, products, services, and experiences for leading companies around the world.

Why should you work with us?

1) Your skills will be nurtured

Every organization talks about development and evolving your career, but at THRIVE, it's a part of the job description. We welcome your talent and your skills and want to give you the support and framework to nurture your abilities. We also want you to be able to do everything you've wanted to do, whether that's something focused in design, branding, strategy, or something entirely separate.

2) Your skills will be used in a variety of ways

Our clients come to us because they have a problem and they want THRIVE's help solving it. The exciting and challenging part is that no problem is just alike, which means our team members — and hopefully you, if you decide to bring your talents to THRIVE — work on a variety of projects for a variety of clients. This keeps the work fresh and stimulates innovation.

3) You'll be surrounded by talented, passionate people like you

We're growing fast, which also means that there's lots of growth opportunities at THRIVE. But the other factor that helps our team members grow is the amount of sheer talent everyone is surrounded by on a day-to-day basis. In addition to top-tier talent, the other thing our team possesses is a serious passion for their work, which ultimately stems from a passion for designing a world that helps people thrive everywhere. If this is something you're interested in doing, THRIVE might be the perfect place for you.

At THRIVE, we're in the business of making the invisible tangible. We believe that what the eyes don't see, the heart can't feel. In our hyper-connected world, every product battles for a space in consumers' lives, making the role of industrial design more crucial than ever. In this contracted role, we are seeking a Senior Industrial Designer who can harness the power of cutting-edge design to forge meaningful experiences that extend beyond mere functionality. If you're someone who thrives on innovation, understands the deep impact of design on consumer relationships, and is driven by the challenge of transforming strategic insights into actionable product solutions, we want you on our team.

About You:

You are someone who sees beyond the shape of objects, understanding that each curve, color, and material tells a story. Your design philosophy is grounded in creating experiences that not only meet functional needs but also touch the heart and mind. You are as strategic as you are creative, capable of leading with insight and inspiring with innovation. With a diverse portfolio that spans industries, including a keen interest or experience in medical device design, you are ready to take on challenges that satisfy your intellectual curiosity and make a real impact.

We're especially keen to connect with individuals or small agency owners interested in forming a long-term contract partnership with us.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic design process, from conceptualization to development, ensuring that new products resonate with consumers and meet our clients' business goals.
  • Utilize an in-depth understanding of brand analysis, consumer behavior, and market trends to craft product solutions that captivate and engage.
  • Showcase superior skills in form development, CAD (SolidWorks), rapid sketching, prototyping, and visualization (KeyShot), among others, to bring ideas to life with technical robustness and aesthetic fineship.
  • Navigate high and low volume manufacturing processes, with a keen eye on materials, construction, and sustainable practices.
  • Conduct insightful brand and product analyses, turning complex ideas into clear, actionable strategies for design.
  • Drive the creative direction of projects, fostering innovation and guiding the design team through various challenges.
  • Cultivate a strong network within the professional design and innovation communities, staying abreast of global trends and best practices.
  • Lead client presentations, articulating design narratives that are both compelling and persuasive.

Qualifications:

  • A BA/BS or Masters in Industrial Design or related field with a minimum of 5 years in a design focused role.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, SolidWorks, KeyShot, and familiarity with 3D printing and laser cutting technologies.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates excellence in industrial design, from concept to final execution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within a leading design consultancy and/or corporate environment.
  • A profound understanding of the human-centered design process and the ability to synthesize critical thought and complex information.
  • Eagerness to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

Other Notes:

  • Preference will be given to candidates based in or around Atlanta, GA or to those located in the Eastern Standard Time zone that are willing to travel as need based on project requirements. Those with specialized knowledge or experience within the medical devices industry will be prioritized.

How to Apply: Please apply directly with your resume and design portfolio. Candidates who apply without a portfolio and resume, will not be considered. We look forward to seeing your innovative work and potentially discussing how you can contribute to our team's success!
