JOB SUMMARY:

The Personal Training Sales Manager oversees the Personal Training department and its personnel at their assigned club. This role will be responsible for leading and coaching each team member on the personal training team to reach their individual and overall club goal. The Personal Training Sales Manager contributes to the profitability of the club by recruiting new personal training clients and retaining the current clients. This role must provide effective training of team to ensure a quality club environment and excellent customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Maintain consistent, productive personal training sales focusing on obtaining monthly club gross, down payment, and EFT goals as outlined in Personal Training Sales Manager Compensation Plan document
  • Set a minimum of 5-8 appointments daily for introductory consultations
  • Ensure all team, including yourself, adhere to the company uniform policy
  • Call and confirm appointments each night and instruct your prospective clients to bring in a list of the foods they have eaten over the last 24 hours and a list of their top three fitness goals
  • E-mail Stretch and PT Sales Report to Regional Director with set/show/close and total PT gross/net/eft at the end of each working day
  • Email PT Production sheet to the Operations Director at the corporate office by noon on the 1st and 16th including the total PT gross, net, and EFT
  • Participate in conference calls as directed by the Area PT Director
  • Complete ALL client tracker sheets ensuring they are filled out accurately, legibly and correctly
  • Ensure ALL clients are accurately tracked electronically in the computer on a daily basisall trainer pay sheets are printed off and turned into corporate everyday.
  • Hire, train and supervise all personal training team members
  • Ensure adherence to all certification expiration policies
  • Oversee ALL trainers in your club ensuring that trainer books are organized, and ALL PT schedules are always legible and filled out two weeks in advance
  • Ensure there are no independent trainers in the club-All trainers must be actively employed by the company
  • Assign each new client with the trainer of their choice, if there is no preference a trainer will be assigned to the client based on their individual fitness needs and goals
  • Provide effective customer service for ALL members/clients
  • Hold bi-monthly meetings with all trainers ensuring they are following trainer policies and guidelines, and ALL clients are being trained professionally and effectively
  • Attend weekly meetings with the GM of the club discussing all facility concerns
  • Delegation of duties from GM of the club and Upper Level Management
  • Attend National Fitness meetings and seminars as set forth by leadership
  • Be pro-active throughout the health club providing assistance when needed regarding any health and wellness concern
  • Promote Personal Training, Supplements and NFC1.com by promptly contacting interested members, assists with marketing strategy, keep clubs' bulletin boards current and program information well distributed
  • Maintains a client base by assisting team members in selling new personal training packages, encouraging continued training with existing members, evaluating existing programs and modify to current trends.
  • Create new training programs to maintain interest level of existing clients.
  • Support and maintain the overall club's cleanliness, operational and safe environment by inspection of equipment and request needed repair of equipment; ensure Fitness team maintains all training areas neat and tidy.
  • Initiate and implement marketing efforts by submitting budgets, forecasting events and promotions, manage department budget by meeting financial objectives and increasing profitability in departments.
  • Ensure training of Personal Training team on new programs by initiating Company Certified continued education programs; assures proper training of new personal trainers through a job training program.
  • Support maintenance of Personal Training Job Description and operating procedures.
  • Responsible for meeting monthly club quotas and personal sales quotas through direct selling and motivation of Personal Training team members.
  • Ensure proper communications of results through monthly reports to Area Personal Training Director on all recommendations and results.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and departments.
  • Manage schedules to ensure all trainers' shifts are covered; calculates current and anticipated payroll per budget requirements. Fill shifts as needed.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by remaining current with trends in the industry and networking with vendors, peers and competition
  • Continued education: must do one of the following daily: read, listen to audio, watch videos or attend seminars that are industry related.
  • Recognize and work to maintain existing membership by greeting members with information on upcoming events, asking members if questions may be answered or if assistance is needed.
  • Enforce and inform team of changes in policy, promotions and programs by conducting team meetings and writing memos.
  • Resolve member and team member issues by researching policies and procedures and providing answers. Reports progress or resolutions to Area Director and General Manager of club with incident.
  • Must cross train and be familiar with all areas of the Club.
  • Work effectively with Program Directors by scheduling, preparing, and planning club events.
  • Write and submit articles on Training and or Nutrition for club newsletter and or local newspapers by the editorial deadlines; ensure timeliness of all written materials including schedules of lessons and events and club posters.
  • Meet Company service objectives by training and developing team to responsibly service memberships; ensures efficient communication to team; promotes thorough knowledge of all club operations and programs to all team.
  • Maintains team results by counseling, disciplining team members, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Effectively follows through on training/ membership issues, requests, and problems by making immediate decisions or seeks guidance from Area Personal Training Director.
  • Ensure team member policies and procedures are consistent by training, communicating and familiarizing self.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS - WHO YOU ARE:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in the health, fitness and/or club environment, or two (2) years supervisory experience
  • Possess basic computer skills and above basic writing, spelling, and math skills
  • National Certification through one of the following certifying bodies: NSCA, NASM, NESTA, AAAI, or ACSM.
  • CPR/AED certification required within first 60 days of hire
  • Maintain and provide current certifications and updated information to the People Operations department
  • Highly organized and possession of good planning skills.
  • Strong service orientation and desire to deliver an outstanding member experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work professionally and effectively with people at all levels of the organization with physical locations spread throughout the portfolio
  • Work quality must be highly accurate, timely, and in accordance with company policy and procedures with a high regard and propensity for safety
  • Excellent task completion and follow-through skills and ability to maintain focus in a sometimes hectic and evolving environment
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, cooperation, and ability to work well with all parties
  • Ability to travel occasionally for company meetings and based on business needs
  • Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Bilingual skills a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day and/or sitting for extended period of time. Team members may be exposed to cleaning chemicals or airborne particles and will be required to wear designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed. Team members are occasionally required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; occasional reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and occasional reach and twist, including side-to-side movements.
