Overview:

The Corporate QA Lab Technician is responsible for processing assigned lab test requests and ensuring that they are completed in a timely manner based on priority and due date by properly trained personnel. They are also responsible to ensure that all test results are accurate and reported in a meaningful way to the requestor. Responsible for making timely, accurate updates to the test request log for assigned test requests. Responsible to ensure the lab equipment is properly maintained and the lab is clean, safe, organized, orderly and ISO-compliant utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices.

Key Job Accountabilities

 

Testing & Measuring

Performs accurate and repeatable measurements of parts using defined test methods. Works with both plant and corporate personnel to ensure that the test setup and procedure will provide reliable and appropriate outcomes. Recommends testing when gaps or inefficiencies can be identified in specific test requests. Works with Metrology Engineer to develop and build new test gauges and fixtures needed to accomplish testing objectives. Creates and updates work instructions for all lab equipment and test procedures for all lab testing.

 

Document Management, Records & Results Reporting

Creates and maintains test records in spreadsheets, Infinity, or Minitab as required. Provides pictures/videos as needed to document the procedure and aid in the understanding and interpretation of the results. Ensures that test methods, fixtures, tips, etc. are identified so that the testing may be reproduced. Ensures all test results are accurate and reported in a meaningful way, utilizing basic statistical analysis and noting any unusual observations. Maintains both paper and electronic files in a secure and organized manner in accordance with Pactiv Evergreen and ISO requirements.

 

Parts Storage

Stores tested parts in an organized manner that allows for easy identification and retrieval. Disposes of parts and returns them to the appropriate party.

 

Test and Lab Coordination

Processes assigned test requests and ensures that they are completed in a timely manner based on priority and due date by properly trained personnel; provides assistance as necessary. Assigns test requests based on due date and priority to appropriately trained personnel and provides assistance as necessary to ensure timely completion. Ensures that the test request log is accurate and up-to-date.  Maintains the lab and its equipment to ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment following good manufacturing practices. Coordinates with Metrology Engineering Supervisor and external vendors to ensure equipment requiring maintenance and calibration are maintained appropriately.

 

Continuous Improvement Quality Lab

Identifies and implements ways to improve the efficiency of the lab and testing processes attributes considering accuracy, repeatability and quality of the testing results.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE

 

Computers

Able to use computers and applicable software to the level needed to carry out Job Accountabilities. Examples include: Microsoft Office products, SAP, Minitab.

 

Fitness for Use

Demonstrate knowledge of product fitness for use that meet or exceed customer expectations.

 

PTVE Quality Systems

Working knowledge of PTVE’s Quality Assurance systems

Education/Experience

Associate's degree or certification in Quality Technician; or equivalent experience. 

 

Three years related experience preferred.
