Axios Professional Recruitment is partnered with a manufacturer of highly engineered machined components in Kalkaska. We are actively looking to hire a skilled Quality Control Engineer. The ideal candidate will be an expert in all aspects of the procurement process, comfortable in negotiations, and expert in raw materials inventory and purchasing management. Expertise in supply chain and the ability to manage supplier relationships is key in being successful in this role.

Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:
  • Raw Material Inventory Management: Monitor and control inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations, optimizing stock levels to support production needs and minimize holding costs. Includes scheduling transportation and raw material moves from the material warehouse to production plants. Primary raw material is purchased both mill direct and from distribution.
  • Vendor Negotiation: Negotiate terms, conditions, and prices with all suppliers (Raw material, tooling, Outside Processing, 3rd Party Services, MRO) to secure favorable agreements while maintaining quality standards and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as production, logistics, and finance, to understand their requirements and coordinate activities accordingly.
  • Budget Management: Work within budget constraints, providing input for budget planning and tracking expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate potential risks related to the supply chain, such as supplier reliability, geopolitical issues, or market fluctuations.
  • Reporting: Generate and analyze reports on purchasing activities, costs, and key performance indicators to provide insights for decision-making. Develop a plan and implement adding or updating items to existing corporate ERP system.
Purchasing Manager Qualifications:
To be considered for the Purchasing Manager position, applicants should:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with quality standards, i.e., ISO 9001, IATF: 16949
  • Proficient MS Office skills (strong knowledge of MS Excel)
  • Experience in the automotive or aerospace industry
  • Experience with managing steel and cutting tools is a plus
  • Familiarity with machining or turned products is a plus
