The Challenge and Impact

Altus Consulting seeks a skilled Software Engineer to build upon our established platform. You'll be designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-native software applications as part of our collaborative team. Working closely with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders, you'll transform client needs into solutions primarily deployed on AWS, with potential forays into Azure and GCP.

Your Day-to-Day Contributions

Your expertise will guide the analysis of user requirements and influence the architectural design of our AWS-centric systems. Development and deployment of applications will see a heavy emphasis on serverless functions like AWS Lambda, alongside batch jobs (AWS Batch) for more processing-intensive workloads. Crafting secure networking solutions, containerizing applications (Docker, Kubernetes), and optimizing cloud-based development processes will be regular parts of your day. You'll enhance our existing codebase (Python, bash, HCL, Go) and integrate with databases (RDS, DynamoDB, etc.) as needed, all while leveraging the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) for streamlined interactions with cloud resources.

Skills to Succeed

We're looking for someone with proven experience as a software engineer, possessing a strong emphasis on AWS development (EC2, EBS, VPC, Lambda, Batch). You'll need a deep problem-solving mindset, the ability to communicate effectively, and the capacity to thrive both independently and within a collaborative team. An ongoing dedication to staying up-to-date with the latest software development trends and cloud technologies is essential, along with familiarity with Agile methodologies and secure development practices.

The Essentials

To be considered for this role, you must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is mandatory. We require a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a substantial portion of that experience demonstrating your expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies and environments.
