Job Description

Summary:  A Maintenance Technician II works under moderate supervision and has gained or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.  The Maintenance Technician II maintains and services the plant and mobile equipment in the scrap yard.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs.
  • Conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate replacement equipment and identify wear and damage.
  • Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
  • Order parts needed for replacement and coordinate with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs, conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement, and identifies wear and damage.
  • Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
  • Orders parts needed for replacement and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, shredder, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC’s.  Welds, grinding, weld set-up, and torching
  • Set up and break down machinery
  • Uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities.
  • Follows established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification
  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods of time
  • Able to climb in/on mobile equipment
  • Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
