Title: Physical Therapist Assistant (Home Health)

Coverage Area: Leesburg, Purceville, Roud Hill, Middleburg, Lovesttville, Berryville

Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

Job Summary: The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the Home Health setting is responsible for providing physical therapy services to patients in their residences, in collaboration with the supervising Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care. The PTA will assist in implementing and executing therapeutic programs designed to restore physical function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following illness, disease, or injury.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate the patient's physical condition, functional abilities, and limitations.
    • Work with the Physical Therapist to develop a comprehensive plan of care based on the assessment findings.
  2. Treatment Implementation:
    • Administer physical therapy interventions as prescribed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
    • Monitor and adjust treatment protocols based on patient progress and response.
  3. Exercise and Rehabilitation:
    • Instruct and guide patients in therapeutic exercises, activities, and equipment use to improve mobility, strength, and coordination.
    • Provide education on exercises and activities to be continued independently by the patient.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in compliance with regulatory standards.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist, other healthcare team members, and the patient's family to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
    • Participate in team meetings and provide input on patient progress and treatment plans.
  6. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure the well-being of the patient and yourself.
    • Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  7. Continuing Education:
    • Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in physical therapy through ongoing professional development and training.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
  • State licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • CPR certification (Basic Life Support).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Experience in Home Health or similar settings is a plus.

Physical Requirements: The job may require lifting, bending, standing, and assisting patients with mobility, therefore physical fitness and endurance are essential.
