Position Summary:

The Communications Coordinator will lead the drafting of key internal and external communications for the firm. This includes working directly with attorneys to draft marketing descriptions on litigation/transactional successes for internal use, pitches/proposals and vorys.com; drafting internal messages about key wins, important deals, and other practice-related news to highlight the firm’s successes and promote cross-selling/integration opportunities across practice groups and offices; independently working with leaders from across the firm on messaging, tone, look/feel and timing of key internal messages; drafting award nominations on behalf of Vorys attorneys and key client personnel; and drafting announcements from firm leadership about key initiatives, high profile new hires, and growing practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a primary writer and editor for both internal and external firm content. Ensure seamless flow of information between various firm groups, offices, and departments, while ensuring the most updated copy is appearing on appropriate firm external sites and in internal databases.
  • Serve as a liaison to other firm departments to coordinate with key leadership on messaging, tone, look/feel and timing of key internal messages. Support the leadership of firm committees on important internal messaging projects.
  • Draft nominations for awards on behalf of Vorys attorneys and key client personnel and maintain an awards calendar for awards across all markets where the firm has offices.
  • Draft internal messages about key wins, important deals, and other practice-related news to highlight the firm’s successes and promote cross-selling/integration opportunities across practice groups and offices.
  • Draft announcements from firm leadership about key initiatives, high profile new hires, burgeoning practices and legal developments; important days/months.
  • Proofread and edit firm documents including reports, newsletters, and new practice group marketing materials.
  • Serve as the BD Department’s lead on the firm’s internal daily newsletter and intranet. Approve all relevant changes and content.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior copywriting, editing and proofreading skills and demonstrated record of drafting flawless copy
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organization and consensus-building skills
  • Ability to manage several deadline-specific projects with multiple requirements, priorities and contacts
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of the firm including attorneys and professional staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Desired:

  • Basic knowledge of HTML, meta data, meta tags and meta descriptions
  • Experience with Hubspot's marketing platform and associated tools
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline required.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in similar field required.
  • Law firm or other professional services marketing experience preferred.
