A market leader in integrated technology ecosystems for healthcare training is Education Management Solutions (EMS). Our solutions address changing demands in clinical simulation management, competency-based education, integrated multimedia, virtual clinical and therapeutic decision-making, and interprofessional team development. EMS, which is currently commemorating 30 years of innovation, is a driving force behind several customer-oriented solutions that have accelerated patient safety and healthcare training across verticals.

This position will assist the Sales Team in selling all EMS products and services, and design solutions for EMS client projects. The AV Engineer is responsible for Audio Visual and IT project designs which will meet client objectives in a cost effective manner, supported by the EMS SIMULATIONiQ architecture. The AV Engineer must have a strong desire to leverage their technical skills, their communication skills and teamwork with other departments. They must work closely with Sales Engineers, Project Managers, Client Support, and Installation team to follow designs through to completion.

Essential Functions

  • Verify proposals/APEG/Purchase Order against available technology to ensure a functional design with sustainable components and ease of installation.
  • Create project designs, including work product such as material lists, rack elevations, cabling requirement lists, and rack and client wiring diagrams using CAD tools.
  • Work closely with staff, customers, and other architects to design audiovisual systems.
  • Create Software configuration for software installation and integration.
  • Direct assembly and testing for completed designs.
  • Prepare as-built drawings post installation.
  • Construct technical bid responses when appropriate
  • Develop relationships with key customers utilizing these relationships to obtain contracts
  • Assist on presentations to potential clients on hardware, Audio Visual and software products
  • Visit customer sites and review customer specifications and technical drawings to develop the statement of work for EMS proposals
  • Interface with customers to clarify proposals and design requirements
  • Support customer proposal negotiations
  • Confirm Company proposals are consistent with customer requirements
  • Assist in identifying all contract requirements and commitments
  • General documentation necessary for defining Project Design and Scope.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFPs/FRIs
  • Recommend commercial and technical strategies to expand sales
  • Performs other duties as required

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Develop sales aids and customer presentation material
  • Recommend prices to support the Company's margin requirements
  • Obtain quotations from local vendors for products and services as required
  • Assist Client Support and Production as necessary
  • Maintain drawings on Project Deployment department site
  • Coordinate efforts with Client Support to document and support new and existing customer installations
  • Assist with design, development, and specification of materials and components for use in Company products
  • Provide technical assistance for Sales personnel with new design concepts for prospective clients

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand technical requirements and communicate EMS value proposition
  • Computer literate; Knowledge of MS Office products
  • Ability to travel 20-40%
  • AV Design experience a must
  • CTS certification a plus
  • Strong trouble-shooting, system testing and design analysis
  • Solid oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team player
  • Ability to multi-task and able to perform under tight deadlines

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent technical discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in computer software, computer networking, and AV design
  • System and design engineering experience preferred
  • Ability to successfully complete jobs from design and equipment specification to configurations
  • Experience creating wiring diagrams and system design drawings
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD drafting software, similar proficiency in the use of other drafting software tools, or commitment to acquire said proficiency during employment
  • Ability to read, correctly interpret and produce multiple formats of technical specifications, schematic drawings and architectural diagrams
  • Strong working knowledge of network protocols is desirable
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Audio Visual installation experience – commercial / residential, a plus
  • Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of A/V control systems – Crestron
  • Crestron and DSP Programming experience a plus
  • CTS, CTS-I and CTS-D are highly desirable and manufacturers certifications are a plus
