POSITION SUMMARY:

The Team Building Assistant Director shares responsibility for the development, implementation, and facilitation of all team building groups attending Frost Valley. Additionally, the Assistant Director has joint supervisory responsibility for the 25+ Program Instructor staff. Providing outstanding customer service is our highest priority. The Team Building Assistant Director will communicate with guests before their visit, create schedules, assign and manage instructor staff, respond to guest needs and questions during their visit, and ensure our guests are satisfied and will return to Frost Valley. This position requires working most weekends between September and June.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create an appropriate and well-staffed activity schedule for each assigned program. This will be based on conversations with the group leader ahead of their visit.
  • Serve as host and point of contact for team building groups during their stay
  • Lead team building activities and facilitate groups when needed or necessary. The assistant director is expected to lead higher level programming for groups that request it.
  • Be available to guests for questions and needs during their entire visit, including check-in and final departure, as well as share on-call responsibilities for evenings and overnights
  • Provide outstanding customer service by anticipating and/or responding quickly and courteously to guest needs both before and during their visit
  • Hire, train and evaluate the Team Building Specialist
  • Contribute to the hiring, scheduling, training, mentoring, evaluation and supervision of program instructor team
  • Work with non-program departments to ensure a superior experience for our guests especially when schedule changes arise i.e. maintenance, housekeeping, reservations, front desk
  • Set up and/or direct set up of needed program spaces, moving chairs and tables, etc
  • Provide creative ideas and implementation for way to expand the team building program
  • Collect and compile program evaluations to find available areas of improvement in programming, staffing and facility to share with relevant staff
  • Work with reservations department to ensure accurate and timely information is entered into reservations software
  • Assist in creation of departmental budget. Manage program supply budget by tracking inventory and ordering of necessary program supplies
  • Lead organizer for all training weeks (Fall, Winter, Spring/Transition)
  • Point person for Outdoor Instructors social events
  • Friday meeting/share organizer
  • Demonstrate good judgment in decision-making and willingness to abide by the Frost Valley Core Values (honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, community, stewardship, diversity, inclusion)
  • All other duties assigned

RATE OF PAY: $58,500.00 per year plus housing and generous benefits


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a camp, conference center, hospitality and/or YMCA setting, especially in working with large groups of over 400 people
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to connect with guests, lead staff, balance short- and long-range planning, and work with a high level of attention to detail
  • Level II Challenge Course certified or ability to obtain certification preferred
  • Possess a valid US Driver’s License and be able to pass internal Frost Valley driver training
