This Loan Officer position develops and maintains a portfolio of agricultural loans. This person must maintain and service a current portfolio along with creating new loans. Knowledge of farm and agribusiness financials and current agricultural lending practices within the financial services industry is a plus!

This position's market territory is in Columbia, Missouri.

This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Loan Origination/Portfolio Management

  • Meets with current customers and prospects to gather, update, and review financial and scope of operation information to determine eligibility
  • Completes the Farm Credit Services (FCS) application process in order to submit to the credit department
  • Analyzes credit for new actions and servicing actions
  • Verifies financial documentation and closing conditions
  • Determines product pricing
  • Communicates credit decision and completes required steps for closing
  • Determines location for loan closing and coordinates schedules to ensure loan closing time and location meets customer needs
  • Services loans, including partial releases, collateral substitutions, changes in payment and maturity dates, extensions and conversions
  • Identifies at-risk loans and determines a plan of action to resolve deficiencies

Marketing and Sales

  • Represents and promotes FCS Financial at agricultural organization meetings and events
  • Attends auctions and sale barns to promote FCS services and products
  • Determines appropriate sales approach for potential or current customers
  • Determines potential business opportunities through relationship building activities including targeted sales calls and onsite visits.
  • Review financial information for cross-sale opportunities
  • Determines proper allocation of marketing budget dollars
  • Contacts internal resources (credit, appraisal, crop insurance, customer service) to coordinate activities ensure customer needs are met
  • Contacts external resources (FSA, title companies, surveyors, legal counsel, appraisers, CPA's) to coordinate activities and ensure customer needs are met

Chattel and Collateral Valuations

  • Performs Chattel (cattle, crops, machinery) and Collateral valuations (real estate)
  • Determines value using external resources such as websites, local grain market, livestock facilities, and the internal appraisal manual for real estate

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business or a related field
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
