Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Report To: General Manager

Work Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday-Friday. The Maintenance Supervisor is on-call and will report outside of normal hours if called back to the plant and be included in the weekend rotation.

Overview: The Maintenance Supervisor manages and assists in completing day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of production machinery, buildings/facilities, equipment, and machinery including IT/Computer equipment, HVAC, electrical, water treatment, offices, garage, grounds, and overall facility maintenance. Also supervises and coordinates the work of employees who repair and maintain buildings/facilities, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare work schedules, assign work, and supervise (while minimizing overtime and call-in hours.)
  • Coach, counsel, and manage the performance of maintenance personnel.
  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule program for applicable equipment and machinery.
  • Arrange for and manage appropriate third-party contractor support, as needed.
  • Ensure that employees maintain shops, work areas, and equipment clean and orderly, and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment, and machine operations that may lead to human injury and/or property damage.
  • Perform various maintenance duties as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all machines and the facility.
  • To ensure tasks are completed in the safest manner during the duration of shift, including proper PPE, hazard recognition and remediation of any open hazards. This includes trip hazards, leaks or spills and equipment.
  • Maintenance duties may include pipefitting, machining, welding (ARC, MIG, TIG), fabrication.
  • Perform inventory controls.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical (assist the facilities electrician), machine repair, plant layout, and painting.
  • Must be trained and well-versed in general safety, lock-out tag-out, and forklift safety.
  • Required to be familiar with and use all hand and power tools common to the skills listed and well-versed in the disciplines mentioned above.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, O.E.M. instructions, and specifications.
  • Must feel comfortable with working in a team environment consulting of Ox employees and outside contractors.
  • Understanding of budgeting and performance management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations as well as OSHA regulations.
  • Hires and trains new technicians.
  • Create or follow a preventative maintenance routine.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors to help provide resources to equip the Mill when needed.
  • Make sure deadlines are met with accuracy, ensure repairs are done quickly, minimizing long lead times before something needs replacing.
  • Monitor inventory of materials and equipment.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma, degree from a vocational school, or longevity in similar role.
  • Pump experience, steam boiler, bearings, welding, pipefitting and press rolls
