Job Description
The National Association of Counties (NACo), representing America’s 3,069 county governments with 40,000 elected officials, 3.6 million county employees and more than $660 billion in annual investments, seeks a Consultative Sales Professional for its Public Promise Insurance (PPI) brand.

Position Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Prospect and identify qualified leads throughout the U.S. by engaging NACo’s extensive network of county employees via industry events, social media, emails, calls, etc.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring exceptional customer service
  • Craft compelling sales presentations that highlight how PPI’s products and services address the needs of local governments
  • Negotiate and close deals, exceeding assigned sales targets and contributing significantly to company revenue growth
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns tailored to specific territories and target audiences
  • Travel extensively (75% of the time) across the U.S., visiting clients, attending conferences and building new markets
  • Collaborate with the PPI team to maintain an excellent standard of relationships and customer service
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as marketing and product development, to ensure a unified approach in delivering comprehensive solutions to clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field
  • Minimum two years’ experience in marketing, insurance sales or business development
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving individual quotas
  • Relevant insurance credentials
  • Experience in working with/for local government
  • Exceptional relationship building and customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to simplify complex insurance concepts
  • Proficiency in CRM software and basic marketing tools
  • Data analytic skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to analyze client needs, data, industry trends and market dynamics to devise effective and forward-thinking sales strategies
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and becoming a trusted advisor
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex solutions and build compelling presentations tailored to clients’ requirements
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market changes and competitor activities, ensuring a deep understanding of the products and services offered
  • Exhibit adaptability and creativity in solving challenges, offering innovative solutions that align with current goals
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction by actively listening to clients, understanding the pain points and delivering solutions that add significant value
  • Possess effective negotiation techniques to secure favorable terms for all parties
  • Efficiently manage time and resources to prioritize high-value opportunities and meet or exceed sales targets

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid or Virtual: Public Promise Insurance (NACo) office is in Washington, D.C. Preference for a candidate who resides in the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone with convenient airport access.
  • Travel Required: Approximately 75% of scheduled work hours, across the U.S.
