DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Food & Beverage Director


SUMMARY:


Assist’s Food and Beverage Director to ensure that all products meet Ruttger’s quality standards. Responsible for providing a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. Responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and operation of the restaurant in the absence of the Food and Beverage Director. Takes drink and/or food orders from guests or servers. Maintain interdepartmental lines of communication and interact daily with guests and resort staff.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Post-secondary hospitality management training highly desirable.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ previous serving experience required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a supervisory position recommended.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Assist as directed to oversee front of house operations in the absence the Food & Beverage Director.
  • Assist as directed to maintain dining reservation system and assist with updating and maintaining Silverware POS system.
  • Attend weekly stand up and precon meetings.
  • Assists Food and Beverage Director with placing orders for beverages and necessary restaurant supplies.
  • Estimates the amount of all non-alcoholic beverages (Coffee, Juices, Tea, Soda, ETC..) needed and assists with placing the order with suppliers; checks accuracy and quality of deliveries. Maintains security of all non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Supervises server activities, monitors steps of service and serving methods.
  • Assists with overseeing Front of House operations. Resolves customer complaints about food quality and/or service.
  • Ensures that proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Assist’s Food and Beverage Director & Events Manager on banquet events, ensuring proper preparation and staffing.
  • Assigns & ensure completeness of all pre-shift and post shift duties.
  • Ensure the morning and evening buffets are set up timely and to Food and Beverage Directors expectations.
  • Ensure buffet units are cleaned after each use.
  • Assists as directed for cleaning of the restaurant areas to maintain sanitation standards. Arranges for maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Monitors actions of staff and guests to ensure that health and safety standards and liquor laws are followed.
  • Ensures proper security procedures are followed to protect employees, guests and restaurant assets.
  • Keeps Food & Beverage Director informed of all issues and takes prompt and corrective action where necessary.
  • Foster positive working relationships and communication with all departments.
  • Assists as directed with monthly inventory.
  • Assists with the restaurants weekly Schedule.
  • Receives and delivers food and/ or drink orders from guests or servers.
  • Greets guests and informs them of specials, menu items, and any menu changes.
  • Processes guest orders to ensure that all items are prepared properly and in a timely basis.
  • Rings food and beverage orders into POS system, process cash and credit card transactions.
  • If necessary, present, open, and pour wine for guests.
  • Ensure guests are satisfied with food and service, respond to additional requests, determine when to clear table.
  • Presents bill and collects payment.
  • Performs all assigned pre-shift and post-shift duties.
  • Stock workstations, bus and turn over tables.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation.
  • Completes daily and weekly cleaning duties.
  • Ensures good safety practices.
  • Foster positive working relationships and communication with all departments.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
