Job Description

Responsible for the supervision and provision of casework services to the residents of Boys Ranch, to include coordination of child advocacy activities, provision of counseling and intervention services and provision of on-call services.

Requirements

Essential Duties:

1. Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.

2. Provides supervision for caseworkers to include the expectations that caseworkers actively participate in the home life of assigned residents, that caseworkers facilitate periodic contact between residents and their families to promote the goal of improved family relationships, and that the results of these family contacts will be communicated to other staff involved in the care of the resident.

3. Ensures that family contact is initiated to report significant events of residents, visitation plans, medical needs and related activities.

4. Ensures the provision of casework family services as established in the plan of service.

5. Assists with psychosocial and/or diagnostic assessment services and assists in the assignment of new child admissions.

6. Establishes and monitors consistency in the provision of casework services. Assigns caseload parameters within a designated community.

7. Provides support to caseworkers in the provision of crisis intervention services. Provides crisis intervention for residents, to include the use of approved verbal and physical intervention techniques.

8. Coordinates referrals for psychiatric or psychological services, individual or group therapy, residential treatment and related needs.

9. Ensures that all case files are current, accurate, confidential and in compliance with all applicable standards.

10. Ensures that all Initial Plans of Service and Reviews, incidents reports and psychosocials are done within the prescribed time frames and standards, and with appropriate input from families and other applicable resources and are documented in a professional manner.

11. Monitors all residents’ files (assigned to those he/she supervises) on a quarterly basis.

12. Establishes and maintains communication with other Boys Ranch administrative staff to coordinate casework services with other campus programs.

13. Assists in the implementation and operation of the childcare program in accordance with the Cal Farley’s Model Leadership and Service.

14. Assists in collaborating with Human Resources Department to ensure proper recruiting, hiring and retention of employees.

15. Supervises staff in, and personally exhibits, appropriate interaction with residents.

16. Make clinical diagnoses when necessary in order to provide appropriate treatment recommendations including but not limited to interventions, psychotropic medication management, and goal setting.

Job Specification:

1. A Master’s degree from an accredited university in Social Work, Child Psychology, Counseling, or related field is required.

2. A license from the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners, Texas State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, Texas State Board of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Texas State Board of Psychologists or similar is preferred.

3. A minimum of 2 years experience in case management is required.

4. Staff supervision experience is strongly preferred.

5. Basic competency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.

6. Must be proficient in general office equipment operation.

7. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.

8. Must be at least 21 years of age.

9. Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.

10. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

11. Must be available for travel as needed.
