Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for analyzing a variety of account transactions and performing complex accounting activities and financial analysis. The Senior Accountant is a professional with inherent leadership qualities and the attention to detail necessary to ensure accurate reporting in all areas of A/R. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for planning and managing the daily tasks of the department and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the department.


Essential Job Functions

  • Provide outstanding and timely customer service, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a positive experience for Certco customers in the perishable departments, and promote positive relations with Certco
  • Supervise other accounting staff as assigned. This includes directing the work, training others on the work and filling in when needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of department goals, policies, priorities, and procedures
  • Handle weekly store charges
  • Responsible for preparing or overseeing drop ship billing
  • Responsible for check runs
  • Responsible for EFT payments
  • Retail accounting tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Perform reconciliations
  • Is regular in attendance and complies with the Company Attendance Policy


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work for self as well as assigned staff
  • Ability to motivate and influence others
  • Solid communication skills
  • Able to problem solve, show well-rounded and solid judgement in day-to-day tasks
  • Must be a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual able to work with minimal supervision
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient and accurate data entry and keyboarding skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle, work with and maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of individuals both internal an external.
  • Ability to create and work on documents in various computer software applications efficiently and accurately


Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Minimum of two to three years of accounting experience (required)
  • Minimum of two to three years’ experience with ERP systems (required)
