Area Operations Manager (Northwest, Yorkshire, Northeast) Ainscough Crane Hire have a rare opportunity to join our Operations team as an Area Operations Manager. The role can be based anywhere within the Northwest, Yorkshire and North East regions but substantial travel will be required to support the depots. As an Area Operations Manager at Ainscough Crane Hire, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of crane hire services within your designated area. Key Responsibilities of an Area Operations Manager Drive full area profit, revenue, and cost performance in line with agreed targets / budgets; analyse any deviation or discrepancies, implementing corrective action plans for the area. Maintain a ‘safety first’ culture by ensuring that all area operations follow the correct QHSE procedures, that compliance is monitored, and all issues addressed proactively. Maintain responsibility for the management of the area. Ensure area resource planning is optimal and that efficiency opportunities between depots are realised. Lead the Area team to engage, coach, develop and manage people according to Ainscough’s values and appraisal systems. Ensure all depot management duties (including fleet maintenance, legislative, and compliance) across the area are managed and coordinated. Ensure that management procedures, communications and performance / KPI reporting requirements are fulfilled by the depots, in line with daily / weekly / monthly business processes. Assess and determine appropriate pricing for jobs within area and manage deviation in accordance with delegated authority levels. Work with Operations and Sales colleagues to sustain and manage customer relationships effectively to maximise revenue opportunities for the area and overall business. Develop and maintain a culture that is commercially orientated, actively engaged with change and customer focused. Act as a Change Agent on behalf of the area, advocating, leading, and supporting on business improvement initiatives. Person specification Education/Knowledge/Experience Management experience in a commercial business ideally within the industrial or hire/ rental industry. People management and QHSE management experience. Proven track record of customer-facing experience working to clearly defined service level agreements and managing a profit and loss therefore being commercially minded, ability to sell the business. Ability to manage and create a positive employee relation culture. Evidence of delivery of continuous improvement within a customer service environment. Experience in dealing with HR issues such as Disciplinary/Grievance. Area knowledge of customer base and market. Good transport / logistics knowledge. Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service environment. Knowledge of QHSE legislation. Direct experience of crane operations and lifting solutions (desirable). Experience of multisite operations (desirable). Skills/Abilities IT literate – comfortable using systems Excel/Word/PowerPoint. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence. Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate / manage the appropriate outcome. Clear, calm, and articulate whilst working under pressure. Good time management skills. Organised with the ability to simplify complex issues. Able to communicate at all levels, both in verbal & written form. Commercial acumen. Culture/engagement – proactive.
