Description

SUMMARY

The National Sales Manager at Grand Targhee Resort will be responsible for leading group and wholesale initiatives, and developing strategic sales plans that will maximize occupancy and revenue for the resort. This role will oversee all aspects of group sales, create, grow and maintain wholesale relationships, and manage event contracts. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills and an understanding of the hospitality industry.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overall group and wholesale efforts including, but not limited to bulk ticket sales, day group bookings, destination groups, and wholesalers on a year-round basis.
  • Sales strategy development and implementation that will maximize revenue and help reach Resort revenue goals.
  • Actively pursue groups and conference business for Resort through in person meetings, outside outreach, and timely responses to inbound inquiries.
  • Prepare contracts, proposals and expedite all customer information requests in the timeliest of manners possible.
  • Drive sales activities to achieve revenue goals across all segments, including rooms, events, and ancillary services.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Identify client needs and tailor sales proposals to meet their requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct site visits and familiarization tours with potential clients.
  • Communicate and work effectively across Resort departments.
  • Negotiate special wholesale rates and contracts to be approved by Director of Marketing & Sales.
  • In partnership with HR, negotiate local partnership/trades within the Valley that will benefit GTR employees.
  • Work closely with Reservations team for group lodging needs.
  • Responsible for reporting regularly on business activities to the Director of Sales and other senior management through weekly reports that track sales initiatives and revenue reporting.
  • Attend and represent the Resort and offerings at relevant trade shows within the travel/tourism and wedding spaces.
  • Schedule and approve use of all meeting/conference space at Resort.
  • Maintain involvement in the community and with professional associations.

The measurement of success will be monitored in the following:
  • Annual Sales revenue budgets being met.
  • Increase group and customer satisfaction.
  • Create and sustain wholesale partner contracts.
  • Grow levels of group business compared to previous years.
  • Secure and maintain local partnership/trades within the Valley.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use manual dexterity to handle, feel, and operate vehicles, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms. This individual is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and lift objects often up to 50 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate winter conditions, cold temperatures, summer conditions, wet conditions, and warm temperatures.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
  • Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
  • Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.


Requirements

  • Proven track record of success in hospitality sales, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing or a related field.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communications skills.
  • Utilize a solutions-based approach to inaccuracies or conflict.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks and have an up-beat and "can-do" attitude.
  • Be proficient with the use of personal computers and communications technology. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, highly entrepreneurial environment where growth will be achieved through creativity, high energy, seasoned judgment, technical skills, and hard work.
  • Flexible working hours. Ability to travel. Some job sharing may be required.
