Description:

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible to contact insurance companies to verify coverage status of patient benefits prior to entering treatment. He or she is to always take calls in a professional manner and input data accurately in the patient information systems.


SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION:

  1. Answers all incoming and outgoing calls in a professional manner.
  2. Enters policy data into Sales Force in a timely manner.
  3. Contact insurance companies to verify coverage status of patient benefits.
  4. Maintain accurate patient information in systems.
  5. Apply knowledge of company processes and procedures to respond incoming communication from insurance companies, patients and internal departments.
  6. Perform heavy telephone contact with providers and participants. (Up to 90%).
  7. Maintain punctuality, organization and proficiency in all areas of job duties.
  8. Demonstrates punctuality, organization and proficiency in all areas.
  9. Demonstrates high proficiency in all computer related applications - Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
  10. Attends staff meetings, as necessary.
  11. Maintains client confidentiality laws.
  12. Ensures a professional atmosphere at all times.
  13. Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  14. Completes additional tasks, as assigned.
Requirements:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma

Some College experience may be preferred.


EXPERIENCE:

Familiar with substance abuse and mental health procedures.

Experience in the Admissions process and insurance policies.


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

None necessary, however, some certification in chemical dependence may be preferred.


KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE:

Knowledge of the substance abuse treatment.

Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.

Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication & Written skills.

Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.

Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.

Knowledge of Workplace Violence.


Pay Range

$40,000-$60,000
